California Gold:

California Gold is a registered team within USA Swimming. We reside within the Sierra Nevada LSC of USA Swimming and compete monthly in Sierra Nevada and Pacific Swimming Swim Meets including Pacific Swimming's Far Westerns. California Gold also travels nationally to USA meets including the IM Extreme games in Arizona, the International Age Group Open in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, the Speedo Championship Series, and the U.S. Grand Prix Series.

Coaching Philosophy:

We emphasize the step-by-step coaching process. Swimmers learn the absolute basic swimming fundamentals of breath control, kicking, stroke work, and proper demonstration of listening to coaches before moving to more technical elements of the sport. Our age group program emphasizes the importance of maximizing distance per stroke in all races. Success is measured as much in practice as it is at swim meets. It is our goal that swimmers will become proficient and excel in each of the four strokes (butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle) and the individual medley, in order to become stronger, faster, more comfortable, and more confident swimmers.

Our coaching staff does not rely exclusively on experience gained from meets and practices. Instead, we are dedicated to using every educational tool available. Our coaches regularly attend Pacific Swimming clinics, A.S.C.A. training, and USA Swim conferences in order to continue to improve the way we coach our swimmers.
