Hello Bsides Seattle Community!
It’s been an exciting month for your Bsides Seattle organization team. We’ve wrapped up the Call for Papers, finalized sponsors, created schedules, finalized the space agreements, ate ice cream, and drove forward on the diversity and inclusivity work.
I am extremely thankful to our amazing Content Review Board for their amazing work and diligence during our review process. Their efforts made the decision process 1,000% easier, as well as helped ensure a broad perspective on what content to include.
In the same vein, to all those who submitted a proposal, my deepest thank you. You made the selection process really difficult, with so many amazing topics. Our community is lucky to have you.
In case anyone was wondering, Bsides Seattle uses an “Anonymous Review” process to rate and assess submissions. We pull out as many identifiers as possible and have the board review only the Title and Abstract content.
Schedule can be found here: https://www.bsidesseattle.com/2020-schedule.html
Please sign up for the SCHED app to get customized schedules, provide immediate feedback to sessions and get the latest updates.
Bsides Seattle takes the safety of our attendees very seriously. Please see the memo posted here for more information on how we are handling the situation:

Humans under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult (Age 18+). They must stay within visual range of each other while on conference grounds.
All humans must have a ticket.
The human on site and responsible for the Minor at Bsides Seattle will be asked to provide day of contact information, in case of a missing child.
Please do note, there are potentially dangerous areas such as the soldering stations in hardware hacking village. While Bsides Seattle is a place of learning and exploration, it is not configured in a way that is geared to young minds. (We are investigating ways to expand that for the future)
Bsides Seattle would not be possible without the support of our excellent, community minded sponsors. There will be a chance to meet some of them at Bsides Seattle 2020 and learn what opportunities they have for you. Make sure to stop by at the conference and say thank you for enabling Bsides Seattle.

Diversity and Inclusion
It has been an interesting year thus far all. Last year, we battled snow and closures, enacting a BCDR plan that allowed us to move the conference 2 weeks. You all were spectacular in your patience and understanding, for which I am ever grateful.
This year, we have an outstanding line-up of speakers and content, a new space to let us stretch out, and some new talk styles to further light up our neurons…. We also have a new challenge in the COVID-19 topic. At this time, we are going forward in the conference and preparing as best we can to enact preventative measures. I’m confident we can have a safe and amazing conference. All of us have a role to play in that through ensuring we wash our hands, make the right choices on our own wellness, and stay aware of changes in the world. Last year was snowmageddon, this year it’s COVID-19, any bets on what 2021 will bring?
If you have any concerns or questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.
