Biology (9th through 12th grade)

Course Description: This course will use the Apologia curriculum to teach the five kingdom classification system, cellular structure and cellular reproduction, basic genetics, and ecology. Evolution will be discussed from a Christian perspective. There will be a heavy emphasis on scientific vocabulary throughout the course. Microscope labs will be completed throughout the class. Dissections will be done in the spring semester.

Instructor: Mrs. Stacey Holland graduated from The University of Montevallo in 1993, with a B.S. in Speech and Language Pathology. She practiced in home health for a year and then moved out of state upon marrying Jay Holland. They have been married for 27 years. In 1999 she received a Masters of Elementary Education from The University of Montevallo. Stacey taught K4 for three years at Hoover Church of Christ Day School. She and Jay have four children ranging in ages from 25-17. Their oldest has High Functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder which led her to begin homeschooling. She has homeschooled for 13 years. This will be her ninth year teaching at Chelsea Tutorials.

Credit Value: Completion of this course in a satisfactory manner results in one credit for high school lab science.

Tuition and Fees:

Administrative Fee: $50 per student enrolled in the program, due at the time of registration, refundable through 6/30/25, payable to Grace on Main, PCA.

Registration Fee: $25 nonrefundable payable to Stacey Holland. Venmo Stacey-Holland-8. Due at the time of registration.

Tuition: $250 per semester, due on the first day of class, payable to Stacey Holland. Venmo Stacey-Holland-8.

Supply Fee: $50 payable to Stacey Holland on the first day of class. Venmo Stacey-Holland-8.

Facility Fee: The annual facility fee for this class is $30 per student, not to exceed $180 per family. This fee is payable to Grace on Main, PCA, on the first day of class.

Class Minimum: Class will have a minimum of 6 students and a maximum of 20 students. If class minimum is not reached, class may be canceled and the registration fee will be refunded.
