8th Grade Science Curriculum At A Glance

8th grade science will cover key concepts found in the Nebraska State Standards for Science. The 8th grade course is divided into major sciences: Life, Earth/Space, and Physical Science. The main goal for this class is to develop a knowledge for and understanding of modern science and technology through activities/experimentation and inquiry. Students will be asked to participate in labs and projects that will develop the following skills: pose questions, design and conduct experiments, collect and interpret data, and finally draw conclusions to communicate their ideas and results in order to foster their critical thinking and problem solving skills.

First Quarter:  Scientific Inquiry, Change Over Time, Climate Change

Second Quarter:  Energy Resources, Land, Air, and Water Resources, Energy

Third Quarter:  Thermal Energy and Heat, Characteristics of Waves, Sound

Fourth Quarter: Electromagnetic Waves, Light
