                                           WI-FI HOTSPOT LENDING POLICY

The West Tisbury Free Public Library lends Wi-Fi hotspots to CLAMS library card holders, ages 18 and above, with accounts in good standing. Our hotspot policy is designed to provide access to as many patrons as possible. Hotspots may not be reserved in advance. Subject to availability, hotspots may be checked out at the front desk. The lending period is two weeks. Hotspots may not be renewed, however renewals may be granted by special permission for students using the hotspot for schoolwork. After returning a hotspot, a patron (or family member) may not check one out again for at least 24 hours.

  1. Once a hotspot is checked out to a patron it becomes their responsibility. The patron is responsible for damage, loss, or theft. The Library is not responsible for any liability, damages, or expenses resulting from use or misuse of the device, connection of the device to other electronic devices, or data loss resulting from use of the device.

  1. Patrons should have a basic working knowledge of the device upon checkout. If any technical problems are encountered, patrons should return the device immediately.

  1. Hotspots should be returned during the West Tisbury Library’s open hours. Devices should not be returned to other CLAMS libraries. If damage to the device is discovered by library staff at check-in, these costs will be added to the patron’s account.

  1. If not returned by the due date, the device will be remotely disabled making it unusable.

  1. Patrons may not use this device outside of the continental United States. Patrons will be responsible for any charges that result in usage outside the continental U.S.

  1. An overdue charge of $1 per day will be charged up to 30 days after the due date. On the 31st day, the full replacement cost of $175 will be charged for an unreturned hotspot. Patrons are responsible for full replacement cost if the device or any parts are lost, damaged, or otherwise not returned. If the borrower fails to pay the replacement cost for a lost device, their library account will be blocked. Three late returns of hotspots will result in a permanent ban from borrowing all devices.

  1. The Library reserves the right to refuse service to patrons who abuse equipment or who are repeatedly late in returning electronic devices.

By checking out a Wi-Fi hotspot a patron accepts the above loan policy and is responsible to return this equipment to West Tisbury Free Public Library in good working condition and free from damage.
