Renter Requirements For Renting A Motorcycle
- All Renters must have a valid (non-provisional) motorcycle class driver's license endorsement.
- International Motorcycle drivers licenses are accepted with proper identification demonstrating a full motorcycle endorsement (non-provisional) for the size and style of motorcycle being rented.
- The minimum age to rent a motorcycle is 21. Acceptions for younger riders (e.g. family members) to operate our vehicles are made on a case-by-case basis. If approved, vehicles for individuals under 21 years of age must be rented, and insured by an accompanying adult with a motorcycle endorsement on their driver’s license. This same adult must pay the damage deposit. The younger rider must have a motorcycle endorsement and will be listed as an ‘additional rider’ on the rental agreement which allows for the operation of the vehicle.
- Full-face, DOT-approved helmets are required to rent a motorcycle
- A Major Credit Card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express) is required for the Damage Security Deposit. Neither Debit cards nor cash/checks are accepted for Damage Security Deposit.
- Damage Security Deposits are
- $2,500 USD for 200-400cc motorcycles
- $3000 USD for 450-1250cc motorcycles
- All damage deposits are taken in the form of a credit card authorization at the time of rental checkout.
What is included in the Rental Rate:
- Vehicle rental* for the rental period as stated on the rental agreement.
- Gear storage to be left at our Grand Junction, Colorado facility during the rental period.
- Orientation for renter at time of pick up.
- *We reserve the right to provide a suitable and similar replacement vehicle should the make/model of the originally reserved vehicle become unavailable due to any reason*
What is not included in the Rental Rate:
- Additional gear, such as tank bags, tail bags, panniers, helmets, tubes, repair kits, riding jackets/pants, lubricants or other chemicals is NOT included in the rental of the motorcycle. These items are available for purchase or rent based on availability. Please reserve in advance.
- Fuel - Tanks must be returned with the same amount of fuel as when they left or a $5.00 per gallon charge applies.
- Cleaning - The rental vehicle must be returned clean. Dust and normal accumulation of particles/bugs is acceptable. A $50-$125 cleaning fee per vehicle will be charged for vehicles returned with mud, clay or any excessive dirt. Please wash all mud/sand/dirt off of the vehicle at a do-it-yourself car wash prior to returning the vehicle to avoid the fee.
- Tolls, fines and violations - Any violations or unpaid tolls having occurred during your rental contract period will be automatically charged against your Credit Card on file in addition to a $25.00 USD administration fee.
- Tire Damages - Renter is responsible for any and all costs associated with tire damage or punctures during the rental period. This includes the cost of materials and labor to fix the affected tire(s). 2023 Labor Rate: $119/hr.
Roadside Assistance and Recovery: ROGUE MOTO does NOT cover expenses related to breakdowns and motorcycle recovery.
- It is the renter’s responsibility to have a comprehensive tool and repair kit (available to rent or purchase)
- Tool and repair kits and spare tubes can be purchased from us prior to leaving on your trip.
- It is the renter’s responsibility to repair flat tires and to do basic repairs.
- It is also the responsibility of the renter to self-recover and self-rescue.
NOTE: Rogue Moto will help and facilitate you in the instance of becoming stranded or injured. However, rescue and recovery services are based on our availability and discretion and will be charged to the renter. Rescue and recovery are NOT included in the rental rate* of the vehicle.
*If it is found that a mechanical breakdown is the result of a preventative maintenance error, Rogue Moto may cover part or all of the costs involved in repairing or replacing the vehicle so that you can continue on with your trip.
Expenses that can be charged for a rescue or recovery may include
- Rescue team service
- Recovery truck usage charge
- Fuel and mileage
- Hourly rate for the rescue/recovery team (2 staff are required)
- Supplies, parts, or materials to recover the vehicle and bring it back to the condition it was in at the time the bike was checked out to the renter.
PLEASE BE PREPARED. It is the responsibility of the Renter to have the tools, equipment, knowledge, and know-how to SELF RESCUE, SELF RECOVER, AND MAINTAIN AND REPAIR THE VEHICLE.
Reservation Deposits, Payments, and Cancellations:
- All payments are in US Dollars (USD)
- A non-refundable deposit is required to secure your reservation. The following deposit amounts (per vehicle) are required based on the number of rental days*.
- $500 for rentals of 3-14 days
- $750 for rentals of 15+ days
- *For rentals totaling under $500, the total must be paid in full to secure the reservation.
- Invoice balance and payments
- The final balance is due 30 days prior to rental checkout or event start date.
- Rentals with unpaid balances within 30 days can be canceled by ROGUE MOTO with no refund of the deposit.
- Cancellations: - ROGUE MOTO recommends purchasing trip interruption and travel insurance through your credit card or a third party. ROGUE MOTO is not responsible for a participant’s inability to attend a rental due to any circumstance whether it be health, family, or environmental.

- For cancellations initiated 45 days or more from the rental or event start date, deposits are nonrefundable, however, payments received beyond the deposit can be transferred to another rental or event to be used within 365 days of the original rental period.
- For cancellations initiated less than 45 days before the rental or event start date, deposits and balances are forfeited as a cancellation fee.
- No refunds or credits of any kind once the rental or event has commenced.
- There are no refunds or credits for vehicles returned early or for early departure from an event.
- ROGUE MOTO is not responsible for a renter’s inability to utilize their booking for any reason.
Rental Motorcycle Insurance and Reduction in Liability Information
- B.L.D.I. (Basic Liability and Damage Insurance) is $30 per rental day. All vehicle rentals are charged this $30 per day B.L.D.I. fee. This insurance exceeds the minimum Liability Insurance required by law by protecting the renter from damage caused to 3rd parties by the renter while operating the rental vehicle. B.L.D.I. can also limit the renter’s liability for damage done to the vehicle while in the renter’s care. The Renter’s liability for damage is limited to the Damage Security Deposit as listed on the rental agreement. There are restrictions to the damage protection (see section 6 below).

Restrictions
The renter will be liable for extraction costs and damages up to the full value of the motorcycle plus installed accessories if any of the prohibited uses (see below) occur or if any of the following occur:
- It is found that the vehicle was raced, jumped, entered into a competition of any kind or ridden in extreme, black diamond, expert or other restricted areas/trails.
- Submersion in water results in an inoperable motorcycle that must be extracted.
- A crash in the backcountry results in a vehicle that cannot be driven out or that must be extracted.
- Running the engine out of oil.
Violations of the above and following restrictions void all reductions of damage liability and the renter will be held completely liable for damages and or theft of the vehicle which will result in complete loss of the Damage Security Deposit as well as additional penalties.
- Prohibited Uses: The Vehicle shall not be operated or used:
- in restricted areas, trails, passes or in any expert terrain as articulated on the rental agreement;
- by anyone who is not an Authorized Driver, or by anyone whose driver’s or other operator’s license is suspended in any jurisdiction;
- by anyone under the influence of prescription or non-prescription drugs or alcohol;
- by anyone who obtained the Vehicle or extended the Rental Period by giving us false, fraudulent or misleading information;
- in furtherance of any illegal purpose or under any circumstance that would constitute a violation of law, other than a minor traffic violation;
- while pushing or towing anything, or in any race, speed test, or contest, or while teaching anyone to drive the Vehicle;
- while carrying dangerous or hazardous items or illegal material in or on the Vehicle;
- operating outside the geographic limitations indicated elsewhere in this Agreement;
- when the Vehicle's fluid levels are low, or it is otherwise reasonable to expect you to know that further operation would damage the Vehicle;
- by anyone who is operating an electronic or mobile device, including a smartphone, for any purpose while operating the Vehicle.
- Failure to adhere to Maintenance Responsibility (Section 7, below) may result in full liability due to damage up to the full value of the vehicle plus installed accessories and labor to install such accessories.
- In the event of an accident, a police report is required regardless of fault. Please contact ROGUE MOTO immediately in the event of any serious accident.
- If the vehicle is submerged in water, the renter will be liable up to the FULL AMOUNT of the current value of the motorcycle plus installed accessories in addition to any extraction and recovery costs incurred to retrieve the motorcycle and transport it to a reasonable location to be further inspected.
- Use of the rented Motorcycle is restricted to the licensed person listed on the Rental Agreement ONLY. Damages resulting from the operation of the motorcycle by someone other than the person listed on the rental agreement will be the responsibility of the renter listed on the rental agreement.
- The renter is responsible for reporting mechanical failures immediately to ROGUE MOTO. Renter should not seek independent repair without approval from ROGUE MOTO. Seeking and approving independent repair without consultation from ROGUE MOTO will result in repairs at your expense.
- Luggage restriction - Our vehicles can only be loaded and operated using our luggage systems. This is for safety and load capacity considerations.
- Personal storage equipment such as panniers, bags, and backpacks (ok if worn on the rider's body) are not allowed to be installed or used on our motorcycles.
- Bungee cords or other non-approved personal straps and attachment tools are not allowed.
- ROGUE MOTO can provide luggage solutions required to carry your equipment up to the maximum weight limit of each motorcycle as determined by ROGUE MOTO.
- Luggage and panniers are available for an additional fee.
Entry into Mainland Mexico and the Baja Peninsula of Mexico
- Mexico Restriction: Renters cannot enter Mexico on our vehicles without prior written authorization.
- A Mexico auto insurance policy is required to enter Mexico from the United States on a ROGUE MOTO Rental vehicle.
- ROGUE MOTO charges a $30 per day fee to provide consultation, prepare border paperwork, and to facilitate obtaining the mandatory Mexico insurance on your behalf.
- The $30 per day fee is charged based on the number of rental days on the rental agreement regardless of the number of days actually spent in Mexico.
- This $30 per day fee does NOT include the cost of the required Mexico Insurance Policy premium.
- ROGUE MOTO is not responsible financially or otherwise for travel disruptions as a result of being refused entry into Mexico.
- You are subject to the rules and laws of Mexico. All rules and regulations regarding operating a motorcycle in Mexico. For instance, if the motorcycle is impounded after an accident or otherwise, the renter is responsible for all costs and fees related to retrieving the motorcycle.
Maintenance Responsibility
- The renter is responsible for checking engine oil levels at each refueling and reporting mechanical failures immediately.
- Chain care - Chains must be lubricated using an appropriate lubricant at a maximum interval of every 500 miles in dry, clean conditions. The chain must be lubricated more often if riding in wet or dusty conditions. Chain lubricant is available to purchase at the time of pickup. If you bring your own chain lubricant, it must be approved by ROGUE MOTO Staff at the time of pickup.
- Customers may be held responsible for mechanical damage due to negligence in motorcycle operation or failure to provide normal maintenance.
Damages to rental motorcycles
- Any damage done to the vehicle during the Rental Period should be reported to ROGUE MOTO at the time of the incident. Damage costs, including parts, and labor to repair the damaged vehicle will be the responsibility of the Renter as listed on the Rental Agreement.
- Upon the return of your rental vehicle, a visual inspection will take place by a ROGUE MOTO representative.
- If damage is found, the Damage Security Deposit Credit Card Authorization will be captured (charged).
- A complete inspection and test ride of the rental vehicle will then be completed by a technician in a timely manner.
- If additional damage to the engine, transmission or other internal or external components is found the Damage and Security Deposit will go towards covering the parts and labor required to repair the vehicle.
- If the repair is less than the Damage and Security Deposit, the Renter will be refunded the difference between the captured Security Deposit and the cost of the parts and labor required to repair the vehicle to the condition it was at the start of the Rental Period as stated on the Rental Agreement.
