Calendar/Number Sense Routine:

March in place and say your doubles plus one facts to 19

1 +2=3, 2+3=5, 3+4=7, 4+5=9, 5+6=11, 6+7=13, 7+8=15, 8+9=17, 9+10=19

 

Take out a stuffed animal and practice saying the following:  

  • Today is,
  • Yesterday Was,
  • Tomorrow is

Is the number of umbrellas in 3 rows odd or even?  Explain your thinking.

Challenge:  Would the number of umbrellas in 25 rows be odd or even?  How do you know?

Take today’s number 160 and do the following:

  • Add 1 to it
  • Subtract 1 from it
  • Add 10 to it
  • Subtract 10 from it
  • Add 100 to it
  • Subtract 100 from it
  • Finally, subtract today’s number from 180

Which one is different?  Explain your thinking?  

Challenge: Can you think of another one that is also different and explain why?
