Notes of the Week: Zoom codes, lunch program, Open House September 16

Families,

Once again welcome back to school as we celebrate with our theme: You can count on me. We can count on each other. Our students are jumping into Distance Learning and Instruction and families are starting to make connections with each other to set ‘social plans’ to allow for social emotional opportunities. Thank you for being flexible with some minor schedule changes to allow for students to access the district lunch program, accommodate our PE program and adhere to best learning practices for students.

Parent Support Session for DL held 9/14. We had parents representing, 1, 2, 4th, and middle school. Parents shared these great strategies: having a 20 minutes walk/scooter ride before school, arranging for friend recess zoom time and parent arranged social time after school, writing out all codes for parent/student ease, making sure parents check homework before it is submitted, parent self care so we can support our families, parents making daily meal plans so kids eat healthy and ‘feel’ as good as they can with nutritious food, and helping to share feedback regarding SEL needs. The next meeting is next Monday at 9:15AM.

Zoom codes: we had initially planned to have zoom codes set for a long period of time but there have been too many safety issues. Teachers will email and/or upload zoom codes on google classroom. Please check google classroom for correct codes.

Lunch Program: Please check the SCUSD website for times and location for lunch pick up. All SCUSD can access free lunch services.

Open House: Sept. 16 is Open House. Your child’s teacher will set up codes and time with you. These are live sessions- not recorded. Please make arrangements to attend and find out important information for your child.For safety and community building- please have your camera on.

First Day Packet: We are scanning and attaching the first day packet available 9/15. There is a bin in front of the school for paperwork to be dropped off. Parents will update their own personal information on Infinite Campus. If you have fingerprints on file with SCUSD you do not need to fill out the sexual offender background check form. This form and TB test result is required to volunteer (via student support zoom sessions).

        Thank you for being dedicated members of our community and being on the sidelines supporting your students as they become warriors in this new education journey. Find the silver linings along the way as we acknowledge while this is difficult and different- we’re in this new structure together and we will value and support each other.
