Pi Chapter Executive Meeting

Board Members Present:  Kathy Albertson, Diane Camiolo, Amy Fratz, Jackie Gould, Debbie Kain, Catherine Kelly, Mary Ellen Malloy, Michelle Marhefka, Helen Musumeci, Barbara Priggemeier, and Beverly Siti

Call to Order:  The meeting was called to order at 5:10 p.m. by President Catherine Kelly.

Secretary’s Report:  The minutes of the February 1, 2021 Executive Meeting were approved (Malloy/Albertson) as written.

Treasurer’s Report:   Treasurer Diane Camiolo reported balances of $2,330.79 in our checking account and $1,748.38 in our Stipend account.  The report was filed for audit.

Correspondence:  Barb Priggemeier has not received any new correspondence.  Kathy Albertson received a thank you from “Warm Up America” for the donation of knitted squares created by Pi Sisters.  Diane Camiolo also received a thank you from the Food Bank of South Jersey for our donation of $1,400.00.

President’s Report:  

• President Catherine praised Pi Sisters’ amazing contributions to our three service projects this year.  She thanked Jackie Gould for bringing these needs to our attention and for organizing the collections.
• DKGNJ has sent out a final reminder for registering for this year’s Convention on

April 17th and 18th, along with a schedule of its activities/programs.

• Pi Sister Amy Fratz will be presenting a workshop entitled “Navigating the Education Maze.”
• The awards for both 2020 and 2021 will be presented on Sunday morning.

• The Board decided not to hold the planned May 6th Focus Meeting and instead make plans for our May 20th Birthday Celebration/General Meeting.

• President Catherine will reach out to Lori Bathurst again regarding the status of virtual programs from the Constitution Center.  “Plan B” will include a trivia activity.

First Vice-President’s Report:  Amy Fratz did not have any updates to report to the group.

Second Vice-President’s Report:  Mary Ellen Malloy did not have any updates to report to the group.

Committee Reports:

• Communications:  Jackie Gould will prepare a newsletter for the membership highlighting our spring activities. She requested that all newsletter articles be sent to her by noon on April 11th.
• Scholarships/Stipends:  President Catherine will contact Lori Bathurst for an update on this year’s Stipend awards which were scheduled to have been awarded in March.

• She will also follow up with Lori on suggested changes to the Stipend program.  The changes need to be finalized in writing by an ad hoc committee and put before the membership for a vote.  

• Book Club:  Beverly Siti announced that Pi’s Book Group will discuss Eternal by Lisa Scottoline via Zoom on May 12, 2021 at 7:00 p.m.

Old Business:  President Catherine reviewed our annual goals.  While the pandemic has made it difficult to attract new members, Pi Chapter has excelled in its dedication to personal/profess- ional growth and its support of our service projects.

New Business:  President Catherine presented the suggestion that we provide an alternative method for paying dues, such as Venmo.

Important Dates:  

• DKGNJ State Convention – Saturday, April 17th and Sunday, April 18th 

• Next Executive Committee Meeting – Monday, May 3rd at 5:00 p.m.
• Birthday Celebration/General Meeting – Thursday, May 20th
