Guide to connect Instagram to Botize

The automation of tasks with Instagram requires some previous steps with which you will obtain the necessary permissions to use Instagram from Botize.

In this guide we will indicate the process step by step and we will help you to do it.

The token that you will get with this guide comes from the "User Token Generator" offered by Instagram, which allows you to exclusively access your own content. In addition, Instagram establishes that your account must be public in order to use this token.

Step 1: Create a Facebook app

Go to developers.facebook.com, click My Apps and create your first app by clicking Create App.

Facebook will show you a dialog box with different types of apps to create. Select Consumer and click Continue.

Now under App display a name for your app and click Create app.

Once the app is created, you will access the products panel as shown in the following image.

In the left column menu, click Settings option Basic

Scrollto the bottom of the page and click "+ Add Platform".

Choose Website.

Add your website URL in the Site URL and click Save Changes.

Step 2: Set up a basic Instagram display

Back in the left column menu click the Last option: Add product

to Add products to your app Click the Configure option Basic instagram display.

Scroll to the bottom of the page and click new app

Name to display
you just created and click Create app

Scroll to the OAuth Client Settings section

In the Valid OAuth Redirect URIs URLtype the following URL: https://botize.com/callback/instagram

In the Authorization Canceled Callback field type the following URL again: https://botize.com/callback/instagram

In the URL request callback deletion type again the following URL: https://botize.com/callback/instagram

Scroll down to the App Review section for Basic Instagram Display.

Skip this section as this guide covers automation with your content and not content from other Instagram accounts. Click Save Changes.

Step 3: Add an Instagram user

Navigate to Roles > Roles.

Scroll down to the Instagram Raters. Click Add Instagram Raters.

Enter your Instagram username and click Submit.

Open another web browser, go to www.instagram.com and sign in to the Instagram account you just sent the invite to. Navigate to (profile icon) > Profile > Edit Profile > Apps & Websites > Test Invitations and accept the invitation.

Your Facebook app can now access your Instagram account when running in development mode.

In the left menu, click Basic Instagram > Basic View.

Copy the code "Instagram App Identifier" and "Secret Key", you will need them later.

To copy the Secret Key of the Instagram app you will have to first press the Show that appears next to it, which will allow you to see it and select it to copy.

Step 4: Connect Instagram to Botize

Go to the Botize Applications section and enter the Instagram application. You can do it from this link:

https://botize.com/service/instagram/Automatizar+tasks+con+Instagram

Once inside, click on Start using it now and then on Connect to Instagram. A form like the following will appear.

Enter the Instagram App ID and Secret Key that you copied in the steps above.

Finally, indicate the name you gave to the application (in our example: "my application") and click Authorize.

Step 5: Connect your Instagram account by creating your first task

You can now set up automations by connecting your Instagram account, for example with this formula to post each new photo you upload to your Instagram account on Twitter:
