STEPS TO WORK

The Award aims to develop self-esteem, self-awareness and self-confidence. Learners are encouraged to engage in learning by focusing on an area that interests them. Through practical activities, Learners can develop employability skills and self awareness to help them recognise their own strengths and the contribution they can make to society.

Available at SCQF levels 2, 3 and 4, it provides a stepping stone for some learners between school, further education, training and employment.

The Award is made up of two sections — Person Centred and Practical Context. To achieve the Award, candidates must successfully complete a minimum of one credit from each section.

The principal aims of the level 2 Steps to Work Award are to provide learners with the opportunity to:

¨ develop self esteem, self awareness and self confidence

¨ develop the ability to engage in learning

¨ gain access to opportunities and possible progression routes

¨ develop the skills and attitudes necessary to become successful learners and effective contributors

¨ develop their employability skills

¨ consider the wider contribution they can make to society as responsible citizens

¨ engage in a range of learning activities in the context of personal development and employability

This Award is made up of two sections:

w  Practical Context

The course may also include some aspects of the Princes Trust awards.

Progression Candidates may progress to:

• Further learning

• Voluntary work

• Employment
