MUMFORD ISD
COVID-19 RESPONSE PLAN
The health and safety of our students, employees, families, and community are most
important. As part of this commitment, Mumford ISD is closely monitoring developments regarding COVID-19. There is no “one-size-fits-all” approach to reopening schools. Mumford ISD’s return-to-school plan will continue to be evaluated and adapted in order to meet the continuing trends of the COVID-19 virus, especially in Robertson County and nearby cities.
Mumford ISD will strive to follow recommendations for school opening and operation from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the Texas Education Agency (TEA), the University Interscholastic League (UIL), as well as other state and local health officials. Circumstances related to COVID-19 may change throughout the coming school year, and this document will be updated as conditions arise. Please check often on the Mumford ISD website for information, as it is posted.

Visitors and Deliveries
- Parents may enter the buildings to walk students to their classrooms, on the first day of school only.
- After the first day of school, parents and visitors will not be allowed into hallways. Parents will remain outside the buildings when dropping off or picking up students, at the beginning and end of the day.
- Essential meetings such as parent-teacher conferences and ARDs will be held on campus as appropriate or necessary.
- Phone communication should be utilized by parents prior to coming to campus. We will do everything we can in order to meet the needs of parents and students while still limiting physical proximity.
- Informal campus visits will be limited (including during meal times). Parents may request to have lunch with their child for special occasions (for example, their birthday). This must be approved by an administrator, in advance, so we may plan accordingly.
- Although campus deliveries are discouraged, deliveries will be accepted for students on special occasions (birthday gifts, flowers, et cetera) and will be held at the front office until the end of the school day.
- Student lunches should be sent with the student each morning, not brought to school at lunchtime. Food deliveries will not be accepted during the instructional day.
In Classrooms and other Learning Environments
- Daily wiping of high hand-touch areas.
- Doors will be left open throughout the day, as appropriate and possible.
- Each classroom and common area (cafeterias, gyms, Mustang Room) has been equipped with a UV air filtering system.
- Hand sanitizer is available throughout the school (classrooms, entrances, lunch rooms, common spaces) and encouraged to be used.
- Campus entrance and exit points during arrival and dismissal are organized in order to promote social distancing.
- Arrangement of desks and classroom furniture to maximize space between students.
- Limit mixing between cohort groups as much as possible.
- Limit the number of students participating in small group instruction at one time.
- School volunteers must be approved by the superintendent in order to help support our students on campus. This will be done on a case-by-case basis with the ultimate goal of supporting students in a safe school environment.
- Parents will not be allowed to attend school parties in the classroom. Teachers will communicate with parents in regards to their needs for their classroom.
Transportation
- Parents are encouraged to bring their child to school and pick their child up from school, in an effort to minimize social contact.
- Hand sanitizer will be available on buses, and buses will be disinfected daily.
