About The Arsenal
The Arsenal was founded in 2013 in downtown Muncie, Indiana. Since then we have moved to a larger location which is home to over 200 athletes pursuing their fitness goals. We support those goals through CrossFit, Sport Performance, Competitive Strength Programs, nutrition coaching and personal training. We currently accommodate members ranging from 6-75 years of age. An athlete is an athlete no matter how young, old, able or disabled at The Arsenal. Our community enjoys spending time together for weekend team workouts, as well as enjoying the occasional get together for dinner and fun. We also train for, and participate in, the CrossFit Open every year to use as an annual benchmark as well as bring the community together to refocus on fitness, health and why we fell in love with CrossFit as a methodology for a healthy lifespan.

Job Responsibilities + Roles
- This is a 30+ hour full time position on professional coaching staff
- Adhere to Core Values inside and outside of the gym (including Social Media)
- Coach all scheduled sessions (class, 1-on-1’s, Sport Performance, etc)
- Attend and actively participate in coaching development sessions and any meeting scheduled with the staff.
- Available to take on 1:1 clients and Introductory Assessments/Sessions 15+ hours/week
- Additional roles include social media management, programming, front desk, sales, marketing, and nutrition
- Never-ending development mindset and excellence through ongoing education, coaches’ development sessions, and 1-on-1 head coach evaluations
- Challenge the team, leadership, and athletes towards excellence on a daily basis
- Post and Respond regularly to gym and member updates through Slack
- Fully prepared with lesson plan for each session
- Engaging with members and athletes during the 10 minutes before and after sessions
- Help stage, organize, and clean the facility before and after class/sessions.
- Fulfill all opening and/or closing duties as necessary
Qualifications
- 3+ Years Strength/Conditioning, CrossFit, or other avenues of group fitness – Candidates must be able to hit the ground running, but don’t let the years of experience scare you off, just demonstrate relevant experience that proves you can produce in a role like this.
- Dedication to making a difference in the lives of others – Is this where you want to invest your precious time and energy?
- Willing to make a 1-year commitment – This is a big one. It will take at least 3-4 months to get everything running well and you to fully establish how our systems work while building up your personal training clientele. This will also give you experience and input into you potentially growing into a leadership role as to the future vision. We need someone who will be here consistently, and under your leadership and we need continuity. You also are allowed some freedom to enjoy occasional holiday’s back home with family and vacation time as well, but we need someone who is going to be here for the long haul.
- Level 1 Crossfit Certification – We are interested in coaches with additional certifications on top of CF-Level 1, based upon experience, earned credentials, and desire to continue learning, will be given preference in this position over someone with just their CF L1 and/or L2.
- 3+ Outstanding referrals (from coaches and/or former athletes) – These can be provided following the initial interview.
- Management Experience *preferred* – At least 1 year managing 3 or more people, responsible for scheduling, oversight and staff development.
- Other training/safety certifications considered* – USAW-L1SP, CSCS, or ACSM, Kettlebell, nutrition, CPR/AED, etc. (others are open to discussion if you feel they can provide value to the facility and community).
- 4 Year University Degree *preferred*– Exercise Science, Biomechanics, Kinesiology, and/or Physical Education or similar degree preferred but not required.
- Complete Predictive Index assessment before scheduling 1st in person interview.
Compensation + Benefits
- Average annual full time coach compensation $50,000 with no ceiling for earnings
- First 3 Months will receive a stipend of $1,500/month
- Payroll is completed on the 1st and 15th of each month
- Initial stable of 1:1 athletes will be fostered by head coach prior to arrival, or generated during the first 3 months of employment. 15+ 1:1 sessions delivered per week is the baseline expectation
- Will receive 50% commission on all personal training packages sold and delivered
- Initial lot of Arsenal branded coaching gear provided. All subsequent needs will be the responsibility of the coach and sold at cost through our supplier
- Discounted membership fee will be deducted payroll each month ($140)
- Discount available for additional apparel for full-time coaches

- We see all 4 seasons for a relatively even amount of time (favoring summer/winter maybe a bit more). Summers can get spicy, and Winters can get chilly, but they both provide their own sense of beauty and appreciation for Nature. The season changes in the spring and fall create a beautiful landscape and provide great weather to often enjoy outdoor activities without overheating or feeling too cold.
- Very low cost of living relative to many places in Indiana and the US and can easily find a 1 BR apartment or studio with all utilities less than $1,000, and many great opportunities to purchase real estate in the area.
- Delaware County and Muncie through the last decade has been continuously trying to grow and develop what is brought to the area, including remodeling many infrastructures downtown and around the Local College Campuses’. Home to Ball State University which provides NCAA Division I athletics and a college town atmosphere. Muncie is an hour ride from the cities of Indianapolis and Fort Wayne.
