Doris J. Davis, 71

August 1, 1948 - August 11, 2019

Doris Jean (Dillender) Davis, 71, of Bloomington, passed away at 3:15 a.m. on Sunday August 11, 2019 at IU Health Bloomington Hospice House after a long battle with cancer.

She was born August 1,1948 in Paragon, Indiana to Elmer Dillender and Doris (Warthen) Dillender. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Doris enjoyed many things in life especially reading, decorating her house, cookouts, and most importantly her Family!  She was truly an incredible woman who was loving, generous, strong, courageous, patient, caring, sassy, intelligent, wise, funny, stubborn, and irreplaceable.

Doris was surrounded by her loving family who shared memories, laughs, and tears all of which she was a part of. She was greeted at Heaven’s Gate by those who had been patiently awaiting her arrival and we know she is infinitely loved and cared for. Their gain is our loss, but we know we will one day again be with her.

Doris was preceded in death by both parents, Elmer and Doris (Warthen) Dillender; oldest son, Robert Cordell; and grandparents, Thomas and Ruby Warthen.

Doris is survived by her husband, Richard Davis of Bloomington; three children, Philicia Cordell and Monica (Cordell) Lopez, both of Bloomington, and Lee Cordell of Ellettsville. Six grandchildren, Ashlee Workman and her fiancé, Greg Seagle of Noblesville, Amber (Godwin) Cissel and her husband, Andrew of Bloomington, Brayden Workman of Greenfield, Shelby and Dylan Cordell of Bloomington, and Sophia L. of Bloomington. Her great grandchild Landen L. of Noblesville.

A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
