Liquid gold. Nectar of the gods and men. The elixir of life. Food of the gods. Celestial nectar.

Raw honey is all of these things and more! Aside from being an amazing sweetener, honey has a long list of health benefits that go well beyond its taste. It is rich in antioxidants and can be linked to beneficial effects on heart health including improved cholesterol and lower triglycerides. It has natural antibacterial and antifungal properties and has been used to treat wounds and burns for centuries. It is a natural cough suppressant and can help treat digestive issues while giving your system a prebiotic boost. Honey is also a natural humectant that attracts and holds moisture within the skin and helps retain skin's elasticity helping to reduce the effects of aging by helping skin look fresh and beautiful (that's why we use it in our goat's milk soap!). And, it never goes bad! Pure honey will crystallize, and while some people like it that way, you can return it to its liquid state and maintain the health benefits of raw honey by mildly heating it (try to keep it around 95°F). Of course, cooking with honey is also wonderful, and while it will affect some of the nutritional qualities it will still taste amazing.

Buyer beware! All of these benefits are specific to raw honey. That is, honey that has not been pasteurized, heated, or adulterated in any way. Unlike grocery store honey, most of which is pasteurized, Brookvalley Farm LLC honey is raw--100% pure, unfiltered, unpasteurized--right from the hive to you!
