The following camps will be offered during May, June and July of 2018.  Please understand that our teachers are not required to hold summer camps – they do this voluntarily.  Therefore, not every grade level may have a camp.  

If the camp is specifically targeted toward summer reading, please understand that your child must have a copy of the book.  Books will not be provided.

Students are expected to follow all rules/policies as outlined in the ACE Student Handbook/Code of Conduct.  Those students who refuse to follow the rules may be removed from the camp at the teacher’s discretion and there will be no refunds.

Students should be registered for camp depending on the grade he/she will be entering in the Fall, 2018.

  • The purpose of this camp is assist the parent of the incoming scholar in mastering the readiness for Kindergarten by helping the  scholar with rules and procedures, recognition and writing of their name, letters, and identifying numbers and counting 1-20. The teachers will help the students make games and puzzles that will be taken home in order to practice their skills throughout the summer. (This camp is especially helpful to those children who have not been in a pre-K program.)

  • Campers will be placed into age appropriate groups where detailed instruction will be provided in all aspects of the game, including: hitting, fielding, base-running, and pitching. Campers will work in drill stations where they will have the chance to work on the techniques covered by the coaching staff. They will learn and improve their skills and have a BLAST doing it!  Campers will receive a camp t-shirt.
  • Students should bring baseball equipment: bat, glove, helmet, water/Gatorade

    - be introduced to similar 1st grade standards

  • Rising 1st grade scholars attending BOTH the Reading summer work camp (June 4th-8th from 9:00 AM-12:00 PM) AND the MATH CHAMPS camp (June 4th-8th from 12:30 - 3:30 PM) will be allowed to bring a sack lunch and stay from 12:00- 12:30 PM for no extra cost.

The second part of the week we will read an optional story and complete the activity. Also, we will complete the questions for the two grade level passages. By the end of the week all of your child's summer reading will be complete! If time permits we will practice the poems required for 1st grade as well.

3rd Grade Selfie Scavenger Hunt

REGISTER HERE FOR CAMP #28

  • Location:  Monday meet at Ocmulgee National Monument
  • Location:  Tuesday – Thursday, Rm. 313
  • Scholars will complete the Selfie Scavenger Hunt 3rd Grade Summer Assignment. This week scholars will complete a scavenger hunt at the Ocmulgee National Monument. Students will be asked to find important artifacts and information about the southeastern Native American culture. We will meet the first day at the Ocmulgee National Monument. Once the Scavenger Hunt has been completed, students will use their new knowledge to create a photo display explaining their experience. The rest of the week will be spent completing the final product, where students will need to display their photos, captions, and findings in a creative way.
    *The cost of the camp also covers the development of pictures taken to be used in the final project.
  • Students should bring a clipboard and a pencil (Monday); Students will need to bring in the posterboard or photo album they will be using for their final product. All other art supplies (markers, paint, glue, scrapbook paper, etc.) will be provided.

Once the Scavenger Hunt has been completed, students will use their new knowledge to create a photo display explaining their experience. The rest of the week will be spent completing the final product, where students will need to display their photos, captions, and findings in a creative way. *The cost of the camp also covers the development of pictures taken to be used in the final project.

SAT Math Bootcamp

REGISTER HERE FOR CAMP #19

  • Location: Room 609 & 611
  • Time: May 29, 30 and 31 - 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. and June 1 - 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
  • The purpose of the SAT Math Bootcamp is to prepare students for the rigor and challenges they will encounter on the SAT and to develop test taking and problem solving strategies to be successful. The timing of the camp coincides with the Saturday June 2 administration of the SAT. This allows students to immediately apply what they know while it is fresh on their mind. Parents must register for the June 2 administration of the SAT separately (May 3 deadline; May 23 late registration deadline). The June 2 SAT will be administered at CGTC, Mercer, Howard HS, and Mt. DeSales.
  • Students should bring paper and pencil.
  • Snack will be provided.

ACT Prep Camp

REGISTER HERE FOR CAMP #8

  • Location: Room 414
  • This camp is designed to prep students that are about to take the ACT. There are two testing days over the summer, June 9th and July 14th, and these camps are designed to help students succeed on the ACT. Students that are not registered for these days are welcome to attend the camp as well. The camp focuses on structure, content review, and strategies for the ACT. The instruction will focus on small group instruction and preparation so students should expect to do practice tests and evaluations as part of the course. For those that are attending, there is a pre-course practice test for the student to complete to create a benchmark and to give the instructors areas of improvement for each student.
  • Students should bring something to write with, calculator, and paper.
  • Students should bring a snack.
  • Rising 10th-12th graders

Summer Math Help (Grades 8-12)

  • This camp is offered by the day or for all 4 days. Student can receive help from a high school math teacher on summer math assignment.
  • Students should bring copy of summer work, pencils, and calculator.
  • Students should bring a snack.
  • Rising 8th - 12th graders
