Publicity Release

In order to promote and advance career and occupational services for students, it is necessary to educate professional workers, students and the public about programs available through The Education Cooperative.  We believe slides, videotapes and photographs can be helpful in achieving these goals.  We request your permission to have your student appear in such films and photographs used only for the purpose stated.  Family names may be used in connection with these photographs.

Refund Policy

The Internship Certificate Program fee is $850 for students who attend school in TEC member districts, and $950 for students who attend schools in Non-TEC member districts and all college students.

The Field Study Certificate Program is $275 for students who attend school in TEC member districts, and $325 for students who attend schools in Non-TEC member districts and all college students.

TEC districts are: Canton, Dedham, Dover-Sherborn, Framingham, Holliston, Hopkinton, Medfield, Medway, Millis, Natick, Needham, Norwood, Walpole, Wayland, Westwood.

The application is not considered complete until we have received full payment and the student's placement process will not begin until the application is complete.  We do our utmost to find a custom placement in one of the student's chosen fields. Students must interview with and be accepted by the TEC Coordinator and the Sponsor.

With all of our Career Exploration Programs, the cost includes a non-refundable $400 processing fee for the Internship Program and a non-refundable $100 fee for the Field Study Program. No refunds will be issued once the student has interviewed with the sponsor organization and accepted her/his program placement. No refunds will be issued if the sponsor organization terminates the program due to the student's behavior. If a student changes his/her mind, decides not to participate in the program and does not follow the 'Termination of an agreed upon program’ policy, no refunds will be issued. No refunds will be issued once the student has started his/her program; no reduction in fees will be made if a student leaves the program before completing the required hours.

Termination of an agreed upon program: If a student decides not to participate in the program prior to his/her start date, he/she must notify the Program Coordinator via email at least 20 business days prior to the start date. The Program Coordinator, not the student, will notify the sponsor regarding non-participation changes.

Geographical Placement Policy

Placement commutes are an average of 30 minutes (unless a placement requires public transportation).

A program placement may require a longer commute. However, before an interview would be scheduled, this distance would be reviewed with the student/parent.

Travel and commuter expenses are to be assumed by the student.

Permission to attend outside events

Through TEC’s Internship and/or Field Study Program, it is our goal to give all our students a valuable and unique learning experience. We aim to teach our students practical skills while also providing opportunities to learn about running a business. To that end, from time to time, mentors may invite our students to join them for events (site work, client meetings, networking events, marketing lunches, and other events) that take place outside of the office and/or outside of normal business hours. Students are never required to attend any such event, however, we feel that partaking in these opportunities can provide our students with educational opportunities that they would be unable to experience solely through working in an office.

As your child is a minor, it is important to us that we have your permission to invite your child to attend such events. If you generally approve of your child attending outside events with a member (or members) of the mentor’s organization, please sign in the application- Yes, I approve. You may also decline to have your child participate, please sign in the application- No, I do not approve.

Policy of Nonresponse

Frequent communication with the Program Coordinator is vital to our programs. Coordinators are able to coach, support and facilitate any issues that may arise ONLY if the student communicates with them.

It is mandatory that all students communicate regularly with and respond promptly to their Program Coordinator. If the student fails to respond to emails/phone messages/texts after two attempts, the Program Coordinator will copy the parent/guardian’s email indicated in the student’s application. If the student fails to respond again,TEC’s Program Coordinator and the
Director of Professional Learning and Leadership will be notified.
