Art Major and Psychology Minor providing courses expected of Art Therapy graduate programs

This professional degree offers preparations for studio arts careers as well as for graduate M.F.A. studies.

The student selects a “Primary Concentration” in one of 6 areas of studio art, and a “Secondary Concentration” in a wide assortment of studies selected to suit the student’s specific career goals.

Art GPA of 3.0 required.

This degree offers a general foundation in the visual arts through Art Core courses in drawing, design, art history and studio courses.

The degree electives allow flexibility to go deeper into selected studio areas, to select other concentrations, or to complete a Minor.

Along with the art core and studio courses, Education program courses provide preparations for teaching licensure.

The program includes a one semester Internship as an Art teacher.

This is not a separate BA degree but rather involves selecting a Psychology Minor and the appropriate mix of studio courses to build a portfolio of creative works to satisfy Art Therapy graduate program admission requirements.
