Graduation Pathways

In pursuit of its mission, The Academy of Las Animas Online offers five pathways for high school students to obtain their accredited high school diploma: Advanced Diploma pathway, NCAA Diploma pathway (aligned with NCAA-approved curriculum), Standard Diploma pathway, Career Readiness Diploma pathway, and the Workforce Readiness (Competency-based) Diploma pathway. For each pathway, students must complete the credit requirements and a District Capstone project or must meet one of the Colorado Department of Education requirements according to the CDE Graduation Menu of Options.

Advanced Academic Pathway

This pathway is for students who are looking to attend a university or more advanced program after high school. This pathway requires students to complete 2 years of a World Language. Courses with asterisks can meet additional requirements (NCAA and LAHS)

Standard Academic Pathway

This pathway is for traditional students who are on track to graduate in a four or five year setting, and plan to attend a two year college/trade/technical school or workforce pathway. All 9th grade students will be enrolled in a standard or advanced pathway.

Career Readiness Pathway

Students must be at least 17 years old prior to the start of the current school year in order to pursue a Career Readiness Diploma. This pathway is not intended for students in grades 9-10. Grade level placement is determined by the students age and their academic career (RITS- Record Integration Tracking System). This academic program is designed for the traditional student and the overaged and under-credited student.

Workforce Readiness- Competency Based Pathway

Students must be aged 18 years and older or turn 18 during the first semester of the identified school year. Prerequisite for eligibility for the Workforce Readiness pathway:

A student who needs 7 or more graduation credits in order to graduate in a traditional pathway.
A student must enroll in the first semester and actively participate in the curriculum for both academic semesters (full year program) to be eligible for a diploma.

Requirements for graduation:

Completion of National Career Readiness Assessment in Reading, Writing, Communication and Mathematics curriculum as listed. A score of Bronze or higher must be achieved.
