Welcome to the UAA Homecoming Spirit Competition!
The University of Alaska Anchorage’s Homecoming Week 2019 will be held October 7 – 11 and features a variety of fun-filled activities designed to unite the campus and instill a sense of University pride.
The 2019 Homecoming Committee invites you to get involved this year and celebrate Homecoming with us at UAA. All recognized student organizations, clubs, residence halls, and sports teams are encouraged to participate in this year’s Spirit Competition. Student organization teams will compete against one another in a variety of events throughout the week and have the opportunity to become the 2019 Homecoming Champions. 2019 Homecoming Champions will win a $500 prize which will be added to their organization accounts.
This guidebook is a reference for all student organizations, clubs, teams, and halls interested in participating in and contributing to the success of Homecoming 2019. Please read the information carefully. It is extremely important that the information in this guidebook is communicated to your fellow organization team members. Please review the attached documents with all of your team members. If you have questions, please contact us in the Office of Student Activities & Commuter Programs at 907-786-1272.
We encourage the participation of all student organizations, residence life teams, and athletic teams in the Spirit Competition. Don’t belong to a student organization? No problem! While cash prizes are reserved for student organizations (and reslife teams and athletic teams), you can sign up with your classmates or friends at the University for the chance to win other prizes! What better way to show your UAA pride than celebrating with your fellow students and dominating the competition!
This year’s Homecoming will have something for everyone, and the 2019 Homecoming Traditions Committee is working extra hard to create a memorable week of events! Be sure to join the fun and help us continue building this great tradition at UAA.

PHOTO SCAVENGER HUNT
Homecoming Week
Overall Points Each Team Can Win: 50
Description
The Scavenger Hunt is designed so that anyone and everyone can have a good time. No matter who you are, you’ll find something on the list that makes you smile. You may even find some stuff that horrifies you! All in all though, this should be a fun activity for all involved.
How Does It Work?
On Saturday, October 5th at 9am, the Scavenger Hunt list will be sent out to all teams who have already registered (however, you can register at any time throughout the scavenger hunt period). Teams take photos of each activity on the list for points. Some activities are worth more than others. At 5pm on Thursday, October 10th, the points shall be tallied and the winners determined. The team with the most points win.
Social Media Accounts
Teams should post their photos on a public social media account (we’ll check Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram) and note which activity they completed in the description of the photo. For example, if they completed the 7th activity on the Scavenger Hunt list, they should note that in the description. Please note that photos will be shared on Facebook, as well as other UAA affiliated accounts. Please use the HASHTAG #2019uaahomecoming. This is how the Homecoming team will search and find your images.
Photo Scavenger Hunt Winners
Participating Homecoming Spirit Competition participants (student organizations, clubs, sports teams, and reslife groups) can receive a max of 50 points to be added to their overall Homecoming point total. Homecoming Spirit Competition participants and unaffiliated teams (teams composed of students who aren’t officially playing with a student organization, etc.) can also win a Photo Scavenger Hunt grand prize based on an accumulation of the most points. So while Homecoming Spirit Competition teams can only max 50 points to the overall Spirit Competition, they can get more points for the purpose of winning the Photo Scavenger Hunt prize.

Then the parade will turn left and exit, go down the wheelchair access ramp outside, cross the street underneath the Rasmuson Hall Bridge, circle the Lucy Cuddy Quad (counterclockwise) and then come back the same way to the Judging table in the Wells Fargo Sports Complex.
