I hope that everyone enjoyed the long weekend. It is hard to believe that our first trimester is getting nearer and student-led conferences so close: November 28 and 29. During conferences there will be clothing and household items for families. We are looking for 5-10 volunteers to help us set up tables, sort resources, and clean up. If you are able to help please contact the main office. We are still in need of donations. Please bring materials to the main office.
Last week I had the privilege to represent King with Joe Farrell, Erika Dyhrberg, and Peter Hill, at EL Educations’ National Conference in Philadelphia. There were 1,200 educators from around the country. King was celebrated through displays of student work and presentations by King staff members. This display represented the Pathway to the Plate Expedition.
Last Wednesday, twenty leaders from the Portland area talked with Moosehead students about the characteristics of a leader. Each shared their Words to Lead By. They will use inspiration from these interviews to create posters about their own words to live by.
On Monday, Chewonki bat expert Emma Balazs spent the afternoon with Sebago 7 students, talking about the amazing variety of bats worldwide and their unique adaptations. Next week the students will start building bat houses!
