NAIA ITA CUP AUTOMATIC & AT-LARGE SELECTION CRITERIA

NAIA Singles and Doubles AUTOMATIC Qualifiers -- 8 Singles and Doubles Regional Champions

1. Automatic qualifiers: The singles and doubles champions from each of the 8 regional championships shall receive automatic bids to the ITA Cup.

 2. In case of a decline from the Regional Champion: The runner-up from the regional tournament from which the winner declined the invitation will be first considered. If the runner-up declines, then the spot will convert to an at-large selection.

NAIA Singles and Doubles AT-LARGE Selections – 8 Singles and 8 Doubles At-Large Selection(s)

1. At-Large Selection Criteria - Regional Semifinalists & Finalists: There are a minimum of 8 at-large singles selections and a minimum of 8 at-large doubles selection. The first 4 selections will come from the pool of the 8 regional finalists. From the pool of finalists, the 4 highest ranked singles players from the previous year and the 4 highest ranked intact doubles teams from the previous year will be selected. If there are NOT 4 ranked singles players or intact doubles teams from the previous year among the pool of regional finalists, selection will be made based on quality wins in the regional tournament and overall strength of the region. The remaining 4 selections will be made from the pool of regional semifinalists (the remaining 4 regional finalists will be considered in this as well). The highest ranked singles players and intact doubles teams from the previous year will be selected in order of ranking. However, a regional semifinalist cannot be chosen over a regional finalist if they lost a head-to-head matchup during the regional tournament. If there are not 4 ranked singles players or intact doubles teams from the previous year, selection will be made based on quality wins in the regional tournament and overall strength of the region.

Note: Coaches must submit to the ITA the names of all players they would like considered for ITA Cup at- large selections. Players will no longer be automatically considered.
