Monday 11/20: We are working on our Thanksgiving narrative in class. If you are behind, please work on some of it tonight. All students should be FINISHED the part of the story where the character goes through event #1. If you are at that point, then you’re in a good spot, and you do not need to do anything for homework!

Tuesday 11/21: You only have homework if you’re behind on your Thanksgiving narrative. You should have written the solution of your story, so in tomorrow’s class, all you have to do is write your extended ending and check over your work! If you want the whole class period to edit and check your work, then please have your story completed tonight!

Wednesday 11/22:Have a great Thanksgiving!

Thursday 11/23: NONE

Friday 11/24: NONE

SOCIAL

STUDIES

We’ve learned about 5 Native American tribes since the start of November (Iroquois, Cherokee, Lakota Sioux, Hopi, and Tlingit).

During the week of November 13, the classes will work on this chapter’s project. First, they will read about a specific tribe and answer questions about that tribe’s way of life. Then, beginning Wednesday, they will make a miniature replica of their tribe’s home and environment. This project will be completed in groups in school.

Our quiz for this chapter will be Tuesday, Nov. 21.

These are some key vocabulary words for this chapter: Culture, tipi, nomadic, longhouse, totem pole, pueblo, mesa, Trail of Tears, myth, democracy.

Students should also be familiar with the information in their Native American flipbooks (in their notebooks). There is no need to memorize!

Lastly, students should be able to use a map to show where the five tribes we learned about lived.

Students should finish coloring their Native American flipbook (in their notebook) for homework at some point this week.

Grades for last chapter’s “Road Trip Book” were sent home on Monday, Nov. 13. Please review and sign. Many of the projects are hanging outside of Mr. G.’s room. Overall the projects were very well done - some needed a little more specific information (where is a place located, what makes it special, or what can visitors do there, for example). As always, we really encouraged the students to put time and effort into their work - so they could be proud of what they accomplished.
