Lesson 4 - Introduction to Units #6

[One speaker]

[There is an equation on the first screen:

Which of the following units are used to measure weight?

  1. Seconds (sec)
  2. Kelvin (K)
  3. Feet (ft)
  4. Pounds (lbs)]

Narrator: [she reads the question out loud] We know the metric system uses grams, and kilograms to measure weight. And the US customary system uses pounds, which is abbreviated with lbs. So let’s go through our list and see which is used to measure weight. The first, a, seconds. We know seconds is a measurement of time, so that will not be used to measure weight. [draws a line through it]  B, kelvin. Kelvin is used to measure temperature, so that will not be used to measure weight. [draws a line through it] C, feet. Feet is used to measure distance or length, so that will not be used to measure weight. [draws a line through it] And D, pounds. Pounds is part of the US customary system, so yes, that will be used to measure weight. [draws a circle around it]
