2025 Augsburg Summer Break Safety and Department Hours

Augsburg University will observe holidays on these dates:

Monday, May 26, 2025 (Memorial Day)
Thursday, June 19, 2025 (Juneteenth)
Friday, July 4, 2025 (Independence Day)

Many campus offices and buildings will be closed on these days. Please be mindful of the following information from the Department of Public Safety and review the summer break hours of operation supplied by the departments below.

Fall semester classes begin on Wednesday, September 3, 2025.

CAMPUS SAFETY DURING BREAK

On university-observed holidays, academic and administrative buildings will be locked with fob access turned off, except for essential staff (DPS, Facilities, Residence Life, etc.) and pre-approved non-essential faculty and staff. Residence halls will continue to be accessible by the residents.

On non-holiday days, buildings will be accessible by fob during the normal building hours.

Any faculty or staff who are working in buildings on holidays, or after 11 p.m. on non-holiday days, should contact DPS when they enter the building (or around 11 p.m. if you are working past 11 p.m.) and when they leave the building. This will allow officers to do extra walkthroughs of occupied buildings and ensure building(s) remain secure after you leave.

Whenever possible, don’t work alone. Ideally, there should always be two or more people in your area. If you are working alone, you are encouraged to call ext. 1717 and inform DPS. Officers will walk by your area more frequently as they are able to do so.

Any classroom use must be scheduled through the University Events office during break. If a classroom or event is not scheduled through University Events, DPS may not grant access to the space.

If you see anything suspicious, immediately call ext. 1717.
