Thurs. 2/1: 2 pm Mahjong Play this ancient game of skill, luck and strategy.  All skill levels welcome!

 

Thurs 2/1: 6 pm   Valentines with Kathy Roberts  Make a beautiful Valentine to give to someone special. Registration and fee required.

Fri. 2/2: 3:30 pm  Happy Hour  Enjoy a Keurig beverage for only 50 cents.  Welcome the weekend and unwind at the library!

 

Sat. 2/3: 2 pm Take Your Child to the Library Day  Visit the library with your child and enjoy hot cocoa and the construction of superstructures using your imagination and marshmallows!  Then browse the library for lots of wonderful books to share together.

Mon. 2/5: Noon   Macedon Senior Luncheon

Mon. 2/5 : 3:30 pm Wood Burned Valentines  Learn how to burn a design into wood with Polina to make a Valentine gift for your sweetie.  Call the library at 986-5932 to register.  There is a fee of $1.50 for supplied materials.  

Tues. 2/6: 6 pm Glittered Mason Jar Lanterns  Create a sparkly votive holder to create a romantic, warm mood in the home.  All supplies will be provided including the votive candle.  Space is limited.  Call 315-986-5932 to register. A supply fee of $2.50 will apply.

Wed. 2/7: 2 pm Iris Folding Join this group and make stunning cards for friends and family.  Bring pretty paper, cardstock, scissors, tape and glue. Current members of the group are always eager to teach beginners.

Wed. 2/7: 3 pm Movie & Activity Watch a family friendly movie.  Do an activity following the movie.  Public and homeschooled children in grades 3-5 welcome to attend.

Fri. 2/9: 5-10 pm: Teen Lock-In  (age 13+) Have fun in the library after-hours with other teens doing teen directed activities such as: playing games, bashing B-movies, making munchies or just talking about stuff.  Must have reliable transportation available at 10 pm. This month we’ll try our skills at a “Break-out Box Challenge.” A permission slip signed by a parent or legal guardian  is required for participation in this program.  

 

Sat. 2/10: 1 pm  Super Bowl of Chili Bring your best chili to the library to be tasted by the community and voted on.  Does your chili have what it takes to be voted the best?  For more details, see the library’s website (macedonpubliclibrary.org) or call: 315-986-5932.  A prize will be awarded for to the chef whose chili receives the most votes!

Sat. 2/10: 2 pm Puppy Tales  Children in grades K-5 are invited to read to a furry friend to develop confidence and fluency while reading aloud.  There is no registration required and several service dogs will be available.

Mon. 2/12: 6:30 pm Fancy Socks with Julia  Keep your feet warm in stylish, one-of-a-kind socks dyed under the assistance of Julia.  Adult sized bamboo/cotton blend socks are available for the project thanks to funding from Friends of Macedon Public Library.  This fun activity is for teens and adults.  There is no fee to participate, but registration is required.

Tues. 2/13: 5-7 pm Free Blood Pressure Clinic in the Community Room of the Library

Thurs. 2/15: 12:45 pm Friends of Macedon Public Library Meeting  Join this group and help support the library by working on fundraising activities.  New members always welcome to attend.

Sat. 2/17: 3 pm Needlework and Niceties  Join this informal group in the cafe area of the library. Do your favorite needle craft in good company.

Sat. 2/17: 3 pm Kitty Tales   Children of all ages are invited to read to a fluffy kitty who enjoys hearing a good story read aloud.

Mon. 2/19: Noon  Macedon Senior Luncheon

Mon. 2/19: 3 pm Winter Themed Story Time  Children age 8-12 will hear stories read aloud and then make a pretty beaded snowflake to hang in their window at home.

Tues. 2/20: 1-3 pm Roller Coaster Fun!  Gain hands-on experience designing roller coasters using library supplied materials.  This is a fun way to figure out the principles of physics while using your creativity and imagination.  Recommended for ages 5-12.

 

Tues. 2/20: 6:30 pm Clever Decorative Paper  Learn how to turn a pretty napkin into fancy paper that can be used for scrapbooking, card making and many other crafty possibilities.  Call 315-986-5932 to register.  A fee of 50 cents for supplies will apply.

   

Wed. 2/21: 3-4 pm Scooter FUN!  Children age 5-12 can burn off some extra energy in the community room as they participate in scooter relay races and games.

Thurs. 2/22: 3 pm Arctic Storytime and Snowflake Painting  Younger children between the ages of 3 and 7 will enjoy stories featuring winter themes and have a good time making a snowflake painting using Q-tips.

Fri. 2/23: 3 pm Arctic Animal Story & Blubber Experiment  Hear stories featuring arctic animals.  Do an experiment to find out how they can stay warm in such frigid temperatures!

Fri. 2/23: Happy Hour From 3:30 until 4:30 enjoy a Keurig beverage for only 50 cents.  Children will enjoy hot cocoa for 50 cents, too.  Welcome the weekend and unwind with your child at the library!

Sat. 2/24: 2-3:30 pm  Maker Day!  Enjoy a variety of maker stations set-up throughout the library. Build and create using library materials and tools.  No need to register, this is a drop-in program for families to participate in together.  

Mon. 2/26: 6:30 pm  Library Board Meeting  Members of the community always welcome to attend.

Tues. 2/27: 6 pm  Penguin Earrings Make adorable penguin earrings featuring glass penguin beads and french loops.  Registration is required. A supply fee of $1 will apply.

Fill in a heart by completing the statement: “I love my library because…”  Hearts will be hung on our trees in the cafe area of the library.  At the end of the month, they will be shared with your state representatives. Letting them know why you care about your library helps them to understand the value in funding libraries at the state level.  Thanks!
