Senior Quantum Engineer
Miraex develops, manufactures and offers cutting edge photonics and quantum solutions for next generation sensing, networking and computing.
Our industrial photonic sensing solutions prevent asset failure before it happens in the most demanding environments, where standard electronic sensors do not work.
At Miraex we also build quantum integrated circuits for high sensitivity measurements and distributed quantum computing infrastructures.
We are an award-winning team with strong support from Innovaud, Innosuisse, EPFL, Swissnex network, IBM Q Network, Venture Kick, Venturelab, ESA Business Incubation Center, IMD Business School, European Photonics Industry Consortium, TOP100 Swiss start-up, Creative Destruction Lab etc.
Our base camp is in EPFL Innovation Park, close to the city of Lausanne, Switzerland on the shores of lake Geneva offering an incredible quality of life. Check out our about page for more information.
Miraex is looking for an enthusiastic Senior Quantum Engineer to join us on our mission to bring quantum computers to the necessary scale for real-life, practical applications. To enable this, we are building quantum integrated circuits that bridge the gap between the world of microwave photons and optical photons. These quantum-coherent, bidirectional transducers provide a missing link to build distributed quantum computing clusters and future quantum networks, and can also be used to unlock quantum-enhanced sensitivity for a wide range of sensing applications (e.g. radar).
As a Senior Quantum Engineer you will collaborate within our R&D team in all necessary development stages of our quantum devices - the work involves simulation, design, and fabrication of highly miniaturised photonic devices and superconducting circuits, laser-based optical characterization, and (microwave) electronic and cryogenic measurements. You will also contribute to exploration of the architectural and information-theory possibilities enabled by such devices, in collaboration with partners and clients.
You are rigorous, methodical and autonomous. You have a critical and analytical mind and you have a positive, committed, and dynamic personality. You demonstrate a strong capacity for adaptation and flexibility thanks to your qualities of listening and collaboration. You know how to work in an organised manner, both independently and in a team.
We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and do not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, colour, sex, age, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, status as a veteran, and basis of disability or any other protected class.
If you are interested and think you would be a good fit for our team, please send your application (CV, cover letter, references,...) to firstname.lastname@example.org and mention the title of the job position. We can’t wait to invite you for a (virtual) coffee!
