What is Changing for 2024-25?

â–˛CA Dream Act (CADAA)

■ FAFSA

▲■ Application Window: December 2023 - April 2, 2024

▲■  Student Aid Index (SAI) will replace Estimated Family Contribution (EFC)

▲ Will have the same number of questions.

■ Will reduce the number of questions.

▲ Language around income for students and parents will be the same.

■ Updated language will use the term “contributor” to describe students, parents, guardians, and spouses.

▲ Keep similar income reporting requirements

■ Every contributor that enters information into the FAFSA application will need to consent to data sharing with the IRS even if they didn’t file taxes.

Extended Priority Deadline - May 2nd*

* California’s priority deadline has been extended. Students are encouraged to apply by the deadline to be considered for priority financial aid. Students may still submit a financial aid application after the priority deadline to be considered for university aid.

CA Dream Act Application

  • Application: dream.csac.ca.gov
  • Who should apply? Undergraduate AND graduate undocumented students who meet the requirement for AB 540. This includes students who have/are: undocumented without an SSN; DACA, TPS, U Visa, Asylum Seeker.

Scholarship Resources

SJSU Spartan Scholarships

The SJSU Financial Aid and Scholarship Office administers three types of scholarships: campus scholarships, department scholarships, and private scholarships. Many of the scholarships are open to new and continuing students and many do not require a social security number or AB 540 requirement. Students are encouraged to apply during the application season each spring but do note that many scholarships have different deadlines.
