Helpster Charity Manual

Updated November 2023

Helpster is a non-governmental organization (NGO) that operates as a mobile application, providing a platform for fundraising to support the treatment of children in need living in remote regions. Our aim is to make the process of raising funds for vital healthcare easy, transparent, and efficient.

Our Project:

At Helpster, we are actively involved in developing an infrastructure that connects hospitals, volunteers, children in need, and patrons. This comprehensive project also includes the validation of both the hospital and the child's case to ensure that we support genuine and deserving cases. We form partnerships with hospitals and non-profit organizations, referred to as "Partners," who collect and provide us with information about Patients in need of medical treatment. In turn, Helpster reimburses the costs associated with the medical treatment provided to these Patients.

Our Mission:

Our primary mission is to save lives by funding access to vital healthcare worldwide and create a movement of heroes. We are committed to ensuring that no child suffers or dies simply because they lack the financial means to pay for basic healthcare. Through our fundraising efforts, we are dedicated to providing an opportunity for these children to receive the medical treatment they urgently need.

Our Vision:

At Helpster, we envision a world where universal access to free vital healthcare is available to all, especially to those less fortunate and economically disadvantaged. If there are regions where such access is limited or absent, we aim to empower Helpster heroes who are willing to step forward to address these gaps in healthcare provision. Our ultimate goal is to uplift the chances of increasing the overall quality of life for those in need, regardless of their financial circumstances.

Our Unique Approach:

Helpster stands out as a new generation crowdfunding app for healthcare with a commitment to implementing every available tool to save as many lives as possible.

Through our platform, we leverage technology and innovation to provide an efficient and convenient way for people to contribute to saving lives. Our approach is not only efficient but also designed to be fun, engaging, and user-friendly.

Policies and Operations:

This manual has been created to govern our relationships, set expectations, and provide clear communication of Helpster's policies and operations. It is important to note that the terms outlined in this manual are subject to change at any time at the sole discretion of Helpster. We encourage all users to refer to the Helpster website to access the most up-to-date version of this manual. While we expect our policies to be adhered to, we also believe in trust and open communication, which allows for flexibility and the opportunity to address any issues, questions, or feedback that may arise. We welcome proactive communication from our users to help us continuously improve and optimize our processes.

Partners and Hospitals

At Helpster, we are dedicated to providing the highest quality of care to those in need. To ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients, we carefully select hospitals and medical centers to partner with. Our rigorous vetting process involves thorough assessments of their facilities, medical expertise, and adherence to ethical standards.

Once we establish partnerships, our dedicated volunteers make regular visits to these hospitals. This allows us to actively engage with healthcare professionals, assess the quality of care being provided, and build strong relationships with the medical staff. Through these visits, we can closely monitor the well-being of our patients and ensure that they are receiving the appropriate level of treatment and support.

By maintaining a close working relationship with the hospitals, we aim to create a network of reliable and trusted healthcare providers. This proactive approach not only guarantees the best care for our patients but also minimizes the risk of potential scams or fraudulent activities. Through regular communication and collaboration, we can swiftly address any concerns or issues that may arise, ensuring the continued integrity and effectiveness of our services.

We prioritize the safety and well-being of our patients above all else. By working with dedicated hospitals and frequently visiting them, we can ensure that our patients receive the highest standard of care and avoid any potential problems associated with scams or unethical practices.

In addition to hospitals, Helpster also collaborates with various non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that specifically work with impoverished children. These partner organizations are dedicated to improving the welfare and well-being of underprivileged children and are actively involved in addressing their unique needs and challenges.

These NGOs prioritize the care, support, and development of children from economically

disadvantaged backgrounds, aiming to provide them with equal opportunities for a brighter future. They implement various programs and initiatives that focus on education, healthcare, nutrition, shelter, and overall holistic development for these vulnerable children.

By partnering with these NGOs, Helpster strengthens its network and extends its impact, ensuring that a wider range of children in need receive the necessary assistance and support. This collaborative approach allows Helpster and its partner organizations to combine resources, expertise, and knowledge, maximizing the effectiveness of their efforts to improve the lives of these deserving children.

Helpster places great emphasis on establishing meaningful partnerships and collaborations with hospitals and Partners in order to effectively carry out our mission of saving lives. To formalize these relationships and ensure clarity in our mutual commitments, we have signed and constantly signing special Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with our esteemed partners. The purpose of these MoUs is to create a framework that outlines the roles, responsibilities, and expectations of both Helpster and our partners.

Through these MoUs, we aim to foster a strong and cohesive working relationship, enabling us to deliver timely and efficient assistance to those in need. The agreements define the scope of our collaboration, specifying areas such as resource allocation, information exchange, and the establishment of shared goals and targets. Additionally, they establish protocols for effective communication, coordination, and decision-making processes.

By formalizing our partnership through MoUs, we enhance transparency, accountability, and mutual understanding between Helpster and our partners. It allows us to work in a synchronized manner, avoiding duplication of efforts and maximizing the impact of our collective actions

Our Patients

At Helpster, our Patients are children who are facing various health challenges amidst difficult circumstances. They inspire us with their resilience, strength, and unwavering spirit in the face of adversity.

Our Patients are chosen based on specific eligibility criteria. We prioritize non-palliative cases that have the potential to significantly improve the quality of life for these young Patients. Emergency lifesaving cases also receive our utmost attention and support.

To ensure that our resources are distributed equitably and can benefit as many children as possible, we have set a maximum limit for the cost of one-time treatment. In general, this limit is set at $3,000 per Patient, although in exceptional cases, it may be increased to $5,000 per case.

We understand that chronic diseases can significantly impact a child's life, so we accept cases where medical care is essential for these Patients to have a chance at leading a normal life.

Our focus extends to Patients who require surgery or vital medication, including urgent cases such as appendicitis or malaria. We prioritize these cases and ensure that they receive the necessary support in a timely manner.

In addition to medical considerations, our Patients must come from low-income backgrounds, where their families cannot afford the required hospital bills. Our aim is to bridge the gap and provide access to quality healthcare for these financially challenged families.

Each of our Patients’ treatment plans is collaboratively developed in consultation with the hospital, and the Patient or their legal representative must accept this plan. By working closely with medical professionals and the Patients themselves, we strive to provide comprehensive and personalized care tailored to their specific needs.

Our Patients inspire us every day, and we are committed to ensuring their well-being, providing them with hope, and supporting them on their journey towards better health and a brighter future.

Our Volunteers:

Helpster relies on the dedication and support of volunteers who play a vital role in our mission. We have two types of volunteers who contribute their time and effort to make a difference in the lives of our Patients.

Firstly, we have Ambassadors who actively promote and spread awareness about Helpster in underserved communities and neighborhoods. These passionate individuals serve as advocates for our cause, engaging with local communities, schools, and organizations to raise awareness about our services and identify children who may benefit from our support. These Ambassadors selflessly devote their time to educate others about Helpster, ensuring that our mission reaches those who need it most.

Secondly, we have Control Volunteers who fulfills a critical role in the verification and validation process. These dedicated individuals verify the information provided by the Patient's family, ensuring authenticity and preventing fraud. They go the extra mile by

visiting hospitals, speaking to medical professionals, and collecting additional photos and videos of the Patients. This thorough verification process helps us ensure that our resources and support are directed towards genuine cases, maximizing our impact and reaching those who truly require assistance.

Volunteers at Helpster provide a range of essential services. They collect relevant information from parents and children, enabling us to consider each case thoroughly. These volunteers serve as the main point of contact with hospitals, coordinating treatment arrangements, and obtaining documents such as invoices and medical reports. Additionally, they assist in arranging transportation for parents and children to and from hospitals, making sure they can access the required medical care. Volunteers may also extend their support by facilitating the purchase of prescribed medications for Patients, ensuring they receive the necessary treatment promptly.

Maintaining the highest level of professionalism is of utmost importance to us. Our volunteers are expected to exhibit professionalism in all interactions with co-workers, Patients, and their families. They are required to conduct themselves ethically, treating everyone with respect and dignity. Violent behavior, harassment, or any form of unprofessional conduct is strictly prohibited. Volunteers are entrusted with the confidentiality of Patient information and must adhere to strict guidelines to protect their privacy. They are not permitted to use Patient information for personal gain, ensuring utmost respect and confidentiality.

Admission Process:

To receive financial support from Helpster, Hospitals and locally based Helpster Partners must submit Patients for prior admission and approval by Helpster. The number of cases admitted can be regulated monthly, as determined by Helpster and communicated in writing.
