*Families: Here are some learning suggestions for you to complete daily with your child. If accessing these “virtual” tools is not feasible to you, please get in touch! Your child should be able to access these through a Smartphone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer.

Writing: Earth Day!
- Using the “Earth Day” template found in (End of Kindergarten Learning Packet: End of Kindergarten Learning Packet), or use plain writing paper that you have in your home, have your child write to complete these topics:
- “Draw one way you can help the Earth.”
- “Write three things you can recycle.”
- “I am thankful for the Earth because…”
- “How can you keep the Earth clean?”
- Use COPS when you and your child edit their paper together:
- C=Capitalization
- O=Organization (does the sentence/s make sense?)
- P=Punctionan
- S=Spelling (either correct spelling of CVC words and sight words; phonetic spelling of the other words)

Thursday, April 23rd:
Reading:
- Sight Words (also known as red words): Choose 5 new sight words to work on using the words below (different words than last week):
- the, can, will, I, see, go, play, and, of, is, a, like, to, we, for, look, my, has, be, with, he, she, you, come, little, want, was, all, or, do, me, here, so, his, her, put, saw, what, down, when, take, by, off, said, zero, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, they, who, some, have, out, very, use, are, were, good, your, would, does, should, goes, any, about, from, could, give, gave, there, new, been, how, where, every, call, day, busy, done, also, again, may, only, say, most, love, boy, girl, much, live, our, first
- Make the five words on flashcards and add to the other 10 from last week. Have your child spell the new words using paper/pencil, air writing, typing, dry erase marker/board, and arm tapping. Each time she/he will spell the word, have them say each letter out loud and then say the word (ex. t-h-e, the). Have your child do this five times.
- Sprinkle writing! Using a cookie sheet/baking pan and sprinkles (if you don’t have sprinkles, you can use white rice, small dry beans, or sand), have your child write all 15 sight words in the tray (see picture example below).
Unit: Recycle
- Do you have plastic, paper, metal, or glass items in your house? Do not put them in the trash! Sort these items into the four different groups. Look for the recycle symbol on each container.
- If your families are able, make a trip to the Augusta County Landfill to recycle these items!

Friday, April 24th:
Math: 120 Chart
*Use the 120 Chart that is attached, or create your own by writing numbers 1-120 on a piece of paper: 120 Chart.pdf
- Place your finger on any number and count forward or back from that number.
- Pick a number and say the number that is 1 more, 1 less, 10 more, and 10 less.
- Cover some numbers with small objects, then name the hidden numbers.
Reading:
- Read one book in RAZ-Kids
- Kids A-Z
- Listen to book and then read independently
- Take Comprehension Quiz after reading book
Writing: Earth Day
- Have your child write on a topic: “I will help the Earth by…”
- You can access this paper using “End of Kindergarten Learning Packet”
- OR your child may use his/her own writing paper at home.
- When your child is finished writing on a topic, have him/her draw a picture about his/her writing
- Have your child present his/her writing to whomever is in the house: Mom, Dad, Grandma, Grandpa, sister, brother, cat, or dog
