Happy Friday!

This week, students worked on our middle of the year i-Ready diagnostic tests. Thank you for helping to make sure that students are at school this week or notifying us if they will be out so we can make sure they all have plenty of time to work on their assessments! Since students are working on assessments on i-Ready, please do not have students log on to i-Ready at home until our mid-year assessments are completed (lessons are not available during the diagnostic). We will update and re-share student data sheets with mid-year data prior to winter break!

Students also worked on writing mystery narratives this week! This is a fun way to break up testing, and we are using the pictures from The Mysteries of Harris Burdick by Chris Van Allsburg as inspiration for their stories. Students have observed the pictures, selected one to plan a story for, and worked on writing a beginning, middle, and end for their stories this week! Students are very excited about their stories that accompany these mysterious pictures. This week was also computer science week, and all fourth graders completed one hour of code to celebrate!

Reminders:

Charlie Cart - Fourth graders will be cooking in the learning kitchen again December 19, 20, and 21st! Thank you so much to everyone who continues to volunteer for these experiences - they truly are not possible without you!

Read Aloud - We just finished reading The Strangers by Margaret Peterson Haddix. Students LOVED this mystery and it ends on a big cliffhanger. The book is a series, so many students may be interested in continuing the story. The second book is called The Deceivers and the final book is The Messengers.
