CHS Volleyball Fall 2025 Tryout Outline
Open Gyms for 8th-grade interested players This activity is done for now.
High School Skills Camp
August 11th-13th 9 am to noon, grades 9-12 - Camp Cost: $50
Camp is designed to prepare for tryouts and it is recommended but not required to attend for all new and returning players. Attending camp will allow you to get back into volleyball after the summer. It shows that you are committed and interested in spending your fall time playing. For returning players, this is a great opportunity for you to meet potential new players and be a positive role model for our younger players as your attendance shows commitment and interest in our program. To sign up for camp fill out this Google form.
Fall 2025 Tryouts
August 18th-20th
Tryouts will follow camp week, attendance is required to be considered for placement on a team. We do not offer alternative tryout dates or times. Players will be assessed on their skill levels in passing, hitting, serving, setting, court/game play knowledge as well as readiness to play. Please keep in mind that volleyball at CHS is a cut sport and not all players may make a team. Previous placement on a team is also not a guarantee for placement this season, so players need to be ready to play their very best.
Tryout 1: Monday, Aug 18th 9-11 am
Tryout 2: Monday, Aug 18th 6-8 pm
Tryout 3: Tuesday, Aug 19th 9-11 am
Tryout 4: Wednesday, Aug 20th 9-11 am
*Players will find out if they made a team following the final tryout session during individual, 3-minute, coach/player meetings.
If you make a team...
Here is what to expect next:
First Team Practice: Wed Aug 20th 6-8 pm
Practices for all teams will continue weekdays until school begins. Once school begins we will practice M, W & F and have matches on Tues/Thurs. See the season calendar for details, but keep in mind that this is live and is subject to change.
Players must be available to participate in the days and weeks following making a team. In recent years we have had a high number of players gone for our first weeks of the season and that created difficulty in practice plans and learning our systems in prep for our first competitions. We also do team bonding, and official team photos during those times as well. If a player is not available to attend practices and our first competitions following team selection we reserve the right to select the next best available player to fill the spot.
Program Commitment:
When you make a team, you are committing time to your teammates & coaches. We have a missed practice policy that will be followed in the event players miss practice(s). Playing time in matches will be affected depending on when you miss. We expect a high level of commitment to our program. Aside from school being number one, we ask that volleyball follows as next on the priority list. This is part of what being in a competitive program looks like. Not sure what to expect out of a competitive program? Check out this explanation.
If you have questions about anything this fall, try this FAQ Page before emailing the coach. After June 21st there will be no email responses until August 4th.
