NEWSLETTER 13                                                                                    18th December 2017

Dear Parents,

We are writing to announce that our Deputy Head, Cheryl Sanchez, has successfully applied for the post of Head Teacher at South Moreton Primary School.

The entire Hagbourne community, whilst delighted for Cheryl as this marks a significant advancement of her career path, will miss her experience, enthusiasm and professionalism very much.

Cheryl will be with us until the end of the Spring Term, her final day at Hagbourne will be 15th April, 2018.

We are sure you will want to join us in thanking Cheryl for her contribution to the life of the School, and wishing her well in her new job.

We will be making announcements over the course of the coming weeks about our plans for replacing Cheryl at Hagbourne.

Kind regards,

Jim Harris, Chair of Governors.

Monday 11th December to Friday 15th December

I just wanted to say thank you for your understanding and support last week.  It was a crazy week in terms of the weather and activities going on in school.  Snow day on Monday and we had to cancel the Christmas Carol service.  Ice on Tuesday with a late start and the car park like an ice rink.  Rain and wind on Wednesday and the Elf Enterprise Christmas sale.  Luckily the sun came out for our school trip on Thursday and Friday.

The trip to Waddesdon Manor was amazing such a beautiful place.  The people working at the Manor house commented on how well behaved all the children were - Well done!

Elf Enterprise winners are Year 5 who made a profit of a whopping £73.  Well done Year 5!

I hope you all have a fantastic Christmas and a Happy New Year - see you all at 8.35 am on Thursday the 4th of January 2018!

Things to look forward to this week - Christmas!!!!

Dress up as a Famous Person from history - Monday 8th January

Next term the whole-school will be working on historical enquiry skills through their class topics. To launch the theme throughout the school we would like to invite children to come to school dressed as a famous person from history on Monday 8th January.

In previous years we have been amazed at the creativity that has gone into this - however do please remember that often a simple prop or piece of clothing will do! Children should come to school with some clues prepared to help their classmates find out more about them and who they are.

You can help at home next term by encouraging your child to develop their historical enquiry skills by finding out more about the person and the period of history / events through which they lived using the internet or the local library.

Maths Parents Workshop - Thursday 25th January 6pm

Mrs Lewis will be running a maths workshop for parents.  The purpose of this meeting will be to provide information about the approach to maths at Hagbourne School and begin to look at some of the methods for calculation that are taught in school.  Please save the date and more information will follow in January.

Christmas Trees

If you have any real christmas trees with roots (any size)  you want to get rid of in January please feel free to donate to the school.

Please bring and leave outside the office or over by the trees
