Circus Cooperative Cafe Event Policy

This policy is subject to change as the needs of the cooperative evolve. Any changes in policy will be publicized for transparency.

CCC can hold events for up to 24 seated people or 35 standing people. If CCC hits capacity we will need to close the doors to any additional attendees. For this reason we encourage event runners to either bring an exact headcount of attendees or coordinate an RSVP system.

We do not have A/V equipment other than a standard set of speakers. Any events involving other A/V equipment will require event runners to bring, set up, and maintain their own equipment.

We do not have a license for entertainment involving electronic amplification. Therefore, we cannot accommodate bands or DJs. Sorry!

Rental of CCC only applies to our cafe space. Event participants are never allowed in staff-only areas at the Cafe, including behind the counter, into the kitchen or office area, or through the door leading to the basement, unless personally accompanied by a Circus staff member.

Options for food & beverage at the event:

1. Catering, paid for in advance of the event and ready for attendees at the time of the event
2. Bar and kitchen remain open for event (labor charges for any additional co-op employees per hour are added to base fee, food and drink is paid for by attendees during event)
3. No food or beverage (space rental only)

Fee for the use of the space is $100 per hour. Additional set-up and break-down cost may also be added depending on the needs of each event. This price includes labor cost for one co-op employee – if more than one employee is needed for the event, additional labor charges may be added. Sliding scale is available upon request for individuals and community organizations. Catering will not be offered on a sliding scale rate – all food/beverage prices are firm.

CCC requests at least 3 weeks of notice for event proposals. However, feel free to send your pitches if your event is sooner than 3 weeks and we will try to accommodate you – just know that there is no guarantee the space and staffing will be available!

CCC reserves the right to reject any event proposals that do not fit with our mission and beliefs as a cooperative. CCC also reserves the right to terminate any event at any time if event leaders break any of the above rules or engage in activity or behavior that compromises the safety of our space or workers.
