Steps to Complete for Dual Enrollment

STEP 1 : Find out if you’re eligible for DE at your chosen institution:

STEP 2 : Apply to the university as a “Dual Enrollment” student  (use personal email address; non-Bryan) through the university application on their website.

  • Go to the university/college’s Website and apply as a Dual Enrollment    

student. You will fill out a college application and indicate “dual enrollment student”. You will need to use a personal email address and check regularly for updates on the status of your application. Application fees are waived for THE consideration.

College Application decision may take 4-6 Weeks.

* You may move on in the checklist without being accepted.

STEP 3: Send your records. High School transcript & possibly test scores.

Test scores - type, score and kind vary by institution.

  • To send your High School transcript- Log onto your Gafutures account and on the left-hand side there is a tab that reads, “High School transcript”. Click and send to the university of your choice by clicking the drop-down menu. The transcript will be sent electronically within 48 hours. It may take some time to link with your application.
  • GSU will allow students to upload their transcripts within the application. Take a picture of the transcript received in advisement and upload it for the fastest processing time!
  • Send your test scores, if required - these vary by school. Testing requirements for admissions are most up-to-date on the university dual enrollment website based on the semester of application. (Exams may include: SAT, ACT, Accuplacer or PSAT) PSAT score reports may be requested at the DE RHHS Counselor Meeting during Step 6.

Immediately after you apply to the college.

STEP 4 : Check out the list of approved courses by clicking the link:

Make a list of courses you’d like to take through DE. *Not all courses are available each term- based on the university schedule. Bring the list with you to the counselor meeting.            

  Ex.) POLS 1101 American Government

STEP 5 : GaFutures Funding Application

This is a two-part application! Both student & parent will need to verify and acknowledge program guidelines and funding award details. TIP: Students should give parents their Application ID number to better link the account. Parents will receive an email to the email the student provided.  Students should be sure to add your planned DE school to link to your ga futures funding application.

CLICK The “APPLY NOW” button to complete the 2-part STUDENT and complete the online Dual Enrollment Funding application through  Gafutures.    

PARENT Funding Agreement for dual enrollment. ***Students only need to submit once per academic year- Summer term through Spring.

STEP 6: DE RHHS Participating Meeting (with DE High School Counselor) 

Students should schedule a meeting by clicking the appointment link below and adhering to the intended term deadlines.

Georgia Southern University &  other 4-year schools:  Book time with Deanna Appleton

Savannah Tech and other technical schools: Book time with Amber Crews: Dual Enrollment Meeting - Technical College Students

Parents are NOT required to attend but are welcome virtually or in person.

Meeting Deadlines

 The College Application process may take 4-6 weeks. Completing the process early increases the likelihood of securing a seat in your chosen class(es).

Spring 2025:  Meetings with RHHS  Counselor Open September 4 & Close December 2nd 

The deadline for completing the Checklist is December 2nd

Fall 2025: Meetings with RHHS Counselor Open February 3rd & Closes May 1st

The deadline for completing the Checklist is May 1st

[Courses for Fall begin in August]

   *There will be no exceptions if you miss the deadline.  College courses will not be reserved for DE students.

After the college application has been completed.

You do not need to be accepted to schedule a meeting with the RHHS DE counselor.

**It is not advised to change your approved college course schedule without consulting with your high school DE counselor.***

By not consulting with your HS counselor,  you and your family may be obligated to pay the full cost of any course that was not approved in the meeting, and/or you may be off track to graduate on time!

Complete AFTER your RHHS DE Counselor meeting:

If not yet accepted by the college: Check the status of your DE application by reviewing the email the institution sent after your application was received or log onto the university’s page to check the admission status of your application.

  • You will not receive your admissions decision until you have submitted your transcript, test scores (if applicable), and funding agreement (Gafutures).

Get accepted! Admissions questions? Reach out to the University/ College about your concern. RHHS can not view college applications and is not privy to admission decisions.

STEP 7 : Set up a DE advisement meeting with your college advisor if requested. Directions will be sent via the email you used when you applied. Student orientation, books, parking instructions, etc. will all be sent via email directly from the DE institution to the student. Processes vary at each university.

STEP 8 : Email a PDF of your college schedule to your respective RHHS counselor;  Deanna Appleton dappleton@bryan.k12.ga.us &

Without your college schedule, the counselor cannot verify funding applications or adjust powerschool to reflect accurate enrollments.

April 26th

STEP 9  : Check all emails (college, personal and Bryan) regularly!

Also DE Googleclassroom should be checked weekly.

Review GAFutures account to ensure all course information is accurate. Funding will be finalized by RHHS after the add/drop date.

Powerschool should be up to date at the start date of the term.
