STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

This is a current list of scholarship opportunities that have been provided to the counseling office for 2025-2026.  This list will be updated often, so please continue to check this page.  Scholarships are listed in the order that they are RECEIVED and NOT by when they are due.  If you have any questions, please see your counselor.

Independence Bank Scholarship Program

Kincaid Foundation-Scholarship Candidate Criteria

Additional information: The primary focus on evaluating candidates requesting the Foundation’s annual needs based scholarship is the financial need and academic achievement of the candidate.

While there are no minimums or maximums for the financial status and income levels of the student’s family, consideration is given to family environment and siblings of the applicant.

Academic achievement evaluation is based on the overall GPA of the student, class ranking, standardized testing scores and involvement in school and community affairs.

The Foundation also requests a recommendation from the applicant’s Counselor.

A narrative should be provided by the applicant detailing their reasons for applying for the scholarship along with any information they feel is pertinent to their family situation, their intended choice of schools, course of studies and long-term life goals.


Don Jacobs Organization Scholarship

Additional Information:

The Don Jacobs Organization Scholarship awards $1,000 to one graduating senior from each eligible high school. This scholarship is open to students planning to attend a college, university, or vocational institution during the 2026–27 school year, and students of all intended majors are encouraged to apply.

Veterans Park Elementary Alum Scholarships

Eligibility Requirements

All applicants for the Cathy Crum Bell Scholarship and Amy McVey Scholarship must meet the following requirements:

  1. Must be in their senior year in a high school within Fayette County
  2. Must have been promoted from the fifth grade at Veterans Park Elementary
  3. Once the scholarship is awarded, it must be used the following fall term. The check will be written directly to the college or university.

 

Criteria for awarding the scholarship

Applications will be evaluated by a committee composed of at least 3 people outside the Veterans Park Community. Two winners will be selected by the committee based on:

All applications must be RECEIVED by March 27, 2026 at the address below. Any applications received at the school after March 27, 2026 will NOT be considered. To ensure you meet the deadline, please mail in time or drop off your application at VPE before March 27, 2026.

Bertie J. Harris Scholarship

Must be a graduating senior with at least a 3.0 cumulative unweighted GPA from a Fayette County Public High School (official transcript required) .

Must be an African-American female planning to attend a four-year college or university.

Kappa Lambda Zeta Scholarship

Zachary W. Prall Memorial Scholarship

To honor the life of a former Tates Creek High graduate, the family of Zachary Prall will be awarding a scholarship of $1000 to a current senior pursuing a career that supports mental health in our community.  To qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Applicants must be a Tates Creek High School Senior.

 

Applicants are seeking careers in one of the following areas:  Counseling, Education, Healthcare,  Law Enforcement, Psychiatry, Psychology, or Social Work.

 

Applicants provide documentation of acceptance into a college, university or training program in one of these areas.

Applicants will provide a written response of no more than 250 words total to the following prompt:  Why is it important to focus on mental health issues within our community.  How can you, in your chosen career, help support those efforts?

Horatio Alger Scholarships

Deadline to apply: SENIORS: February 15      JUNIORS: March 6

The Horatio Alger Association seeks to provide scholarship assistance to deserving students who have demonstrated integrity, determination in overcoming adversity, academic potential, personal aspirations, strength of character and financial need.                    

JUNIORS: The Association awards 2 $25,000 National Scholarships and 10 State $10,000 scholarships. Deadline Mar 1.

 

Key criteria for qualification:

SENIORS: $10,000 to $52,000 scholarships to specific colleges and

Blue Grass Community Foundation’s Scholarships for FCPS Students
