We are learning to use place value to solve multiplication problems using whole numbers.

25 x 8 =200

20 x 8=160

5 x 8 =40

25 x 15 =375

20 x 15 =300

5 x 15 =75

  Show your working under each problem:

1.  Mrs Ilaoa orders 5 boxes of bats. If each box contains 7 bats, how many bats are there altogether?

5 10 20 30 5x7=35

2. She then orders 23 boxes of cones. If each box contains 8 cones, how many cones are there altogether?

 20x8=160 that you just add the 3 so 23x8=184

3.Mrs Tele’a orders pencils for team 5. She orders 25 boxes of 12 pencils. How many pencils are there altogether?

25x12=300

4. Chance has brought some lollies in to share with the class for her birthday. She has brought 14 packets which contain 12 lollies each. How many lollies are there altogether?   10x12=120  4x12=48    120+48=168

5. Team 5 are working out how much money they can make from their fundraising at the garage sale.

If they sell 27 plates of food for $12 each, how much money will they make?

20x12=240    7x12=84  240+84=324

If they sell 45 cakes for $15 each, how much money will they make?

45x15=675    5x15=75    40x15=600 675+600+75= 1350

6. Room 4 is 12m long and 11m wide. What is the area of the room?

12x11=132
