Grapevine High School

3223 Mustang Dr., Grapevine, TX 76051

The Newcomer Academy at Grapevine High School provides a safe and welcoming English language learning environment for non-English speaking high school students. One way this is accomplished is through sheltered instruction designed specifically to meet the academic and language development needs of newcomers.  The social emotional support and skills also developed in this program will provide the necessary foundations to support students as they transition into US schools. The final component is the partnership between home and school as it is a critical part of the successful educational integration of the newcomer student.

Eligibility:

Students ages 14-17 who have lived in the US for 3 years or less and  have not yet reached advanced or advanced high on TELPAS or LAS Links assessments.

Specialized Instruction: Students in the Newcomer Academy will benefit from specialized scheduling, sheltered instruction and academic support in CORE classes, as well as English language learning through ELLA classes. This program is designed to be an accelerated learning program and not a remediation program.
