2013/14

LIBERTY TROPHY - As many of you will know, the Cambridgeshire team had a fantastic battle against a strong Kent side in the final of the Liberty trophy at Melton Mowbray on the 13th April. For those who attended, it was a superb match and one that was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Sadly Cambridgeshire lost the match but only by 9 shots. Congratulations to the Kent team on winning the game, but congratulations too to the Cambridgeshire team who fought  well and played some stunning bowls. (TB 21.04.14)

EASTERN COUNTIES LEAGUES - Congratulations to the Under 25’s League team who have WON the Trophy this year. The team won all 3 of their games, with the last game going to an aggregate score win by 1 shot. Nonetheless this was enough to secure the trophy for the first time in several years. Well done to all concerned. (TB 17.03.14)

LIBERTY TROPHY -  Great news! Cambridgeshire BEAT Nottinghamshire by 2 shots to win a place in the final of the Liberty Trophy!

Congratulations to the team, you played a fantastic game. The Final is to be played on Sunday 13th April at Melton Mowbray - please put the date firmly in your diary, then come along and support the lads. (TB 08.03.14)

Just to update everyone, the Final is against Kent and the game starts at 1.30pm - See you there. (TB 17.03.14)

AUKER TROPHY -  This is an inter County competition played by the Under 25’s,and this years competition was played last weekend at County Arts IBC, Norfolk. I am delighted to say that the team, while not the strongest because of clashing dates and illness, played extremely well and eventually came 2nd to Norfolk. Well done to all the team - you played so well.

LIBERTY TROPHY-  Congratulations once again to the Liberty team who won against Cumbria at the weekend. It was a great game and Cambridge won on 4 out of 6 rinks. This means that the County is now in the Semi final and we play Nottinghamshire on the 8th March at Nottingham IBC, starting at 10.30am. Come on folks, have a day out and support your team. I am sure they will appreciate it.  (TB 03.02.14)

LIBERTY TROPHY - Congratulations to the Liberty Trophy team who won a great game against Northants yesterday. The game was close at times but the team got stuck in and eventually won by 10 shots. The total scores were Cambridgeshire 120 - Northants 110. The next round is scheduled for Sat. 1st February and we shall be playing either Cumbria or Lincolnshire. Well done!

SENIOR CITIZENS LEAGUE CUP - There seems to be a problem with the Senior Citizens League Cup in that Clubs are turning up to play at any time between 09.30 and 11.15. The rule for these Cup games (albeit unwritten presently) is that these games should be played on a Monday morning commencing at 10.00am with two rinks at each Club. This week, one Club arrived at the host club at 11.15 and another Club failed to field a team at all! Can we please regularise this for the Semi final and Final. (TB 06.01.14)

2012/13

FIXTURE CHANGES - Please note that the following changes have been made to the fixtures calendar: 1. The game between the Under 25’s v the County cannot be played on the 8th February as this clashes with other commitments within the County Ladies calendar. A new date will be found and will be posted as soon as possible. 2. The Under 14/16’s competition at City of Ely has been brought forward a week to the 9th February. Applications for this competition to be obtained as usual from Alex Roberts. 3. The County friendly against the ECIBA has been moved to Thursday 27th MARCH to avoid a clash with the County Tour. (TB 16.12.13)

UNDER 25’S DOUBLE RINK V HERTFORDSHIRE - Cambridgeshire got off to a great start in this competition, beating Northants by 49 shots to 26 overall. Well done to the teams! The second round against Hertfordshire was a very closely fought game but sad to say the match went against us this time. Nevertheless the team played very well and whilst the ‘home’ leg was won by Cambs, the away leg went against us - just. Well done to both teams. (TB 10.12.13)

LIBERTY TROPHY - The first round of this major trophy against Norfolk was always going to be a battle, since Norfolk always produce a strong team. However our lads proved that they were up to the challenge with a very convincing win with a final score of 117 shots to 88. The team now play Northants on the 11th January 2014. Come along and lend your support please. (TB 10.12.13)

COUNTY FRIENDLIES - The County friendly matches continue in the best of spirits and on Thursday we play Norfolk at Pentney. This is the last game of 2013, but several are to be played in the early part of the New Year. So if you want to play, put your name on the list at you home Club. May I wish you all a very Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year. (TB 10.12.13)
