Language, Literacy & Communication: In Welsh we will be learning some key phrases such as:; Bore da, Prynhawn Da, Pwy wyt ti, Pa lliw, and Sut wyt ti. Each child will develop their phonetic knowledge through our Read Write Inc phonics scheme. Each child will make progress at their own speed. We will be exploring a range of different books, traditional tales, and cartoons through Drawing Club. This gives opportunity for endless creativity and imagination, as well as sharpening our Literacy skills. | Mathematics and Numeracy: Each child in Dosbarth Chirk has an individually tailored Maths Pathway. These pathways give specific targets for our pupils to work towards. There are daily opportunities for the children to work towards these targets and grow as Mathematicians. Our classroom is a Maths-rich environment. There are many Maths resources for the children to explore and discover. This includes scales, measuring tapes, blocks, numicon, number stones, and more! | Expressive Arts: The children have free access to a range of artistics mediums throughout the classroom environment. This includes paint, pencils, pens, scissors, glue, tissue paper, play dough, sand, building materials, and more! We also give opportunities for children to engage with Focus Tasks. This term, there will be chances to create rainbows, beanstalks, animals, jungles, zoos, and much, much more! | R.E This half term, we will be focussing on the key Christian Value of Respect. On our class journey to better understand this term, we will also learn about kindness, generosity, and thankfulness. We will learn various Bible stories relating to these themes, and carry out activities that allow us to put these principles into action. Some ideas we have planned are writing class prayers, decorating biscuits to give away, and creating a ‘Kindness Jar’. |
Humanities: Our class topic is ‘Jungle’. Through this topic, we aim to give the children a better understanding of the size and diversity of Planet Earth, and their place within it. | Science and Technology: In line with our topic of ‘Jungle’ we will be learning about the various animals and plants found in the jungles around the world. Our trip to Chester Zoo will support this learning by creating real-world learning opportunities. | Health and Well-being: In Health and wellbeing we will be talking about our emotions and what makes us happy and sad. We will be promoting good sharing, kind hands and how we can be a nice friend to others in class. | Trips/Forest school visits Chester Zoo Alyn Waters |
