What to Expect – Preschool
A Warm Welcome
As you and your child arrive at our check-in area, you will be greeted by a member of our Central Kids Welcome Team. At the check-in desk, you will receive a name tag sticker to place on your child’s back and a corresponding security tag for yourself. Please indicate any important information that will help in caring for your child, such as allergies or special needs. In addition to the name tag, we ask that you fill out a Central Kids Connection Card. We will upload the information into our database, so you can use an electronic kiosk at your next visit by simply putting in your name or phone number.
As you walk your child to his or her room on the preschool hallway, a volunteer will meet you at the door to welcome your child and receive any necessary items you may have for your child. Please inform volunteers of any specific instructions you may have for your child, such as potty training.
After you have completed the check-in process and taken your child to his or her room, wave a quick good-bye and head into the worship service. As you know, it is common for children to cry when parents leave. Typically, this does not last long. Our volunteers will immediately engage your child in a toy or activity and ensure your child that you will return soon. If your child cries for an extended period of time, we will text the number provided on your child's check-in tag to notify you.
Necessary Items
It is most helpful if each child under 4 years of age has a bag with the following items:
- Two or three disposable diapers
- An extra change of clothes
- A bottle of milk, formula, juice or water
Please label all personal items (including pacifiers, bottles, and cups) with your child's first and last name before arriving at your child's class. This helps us know which items belong to your child.
Opening Activities
Preschoolers are encouraged to participate in opening activities such as coloring a picture based on the lesson or making something out of play-dough that corresponds with the lesson. The teachers will use these activities to introduce the Bible stories each week.
Story Time
"The Beginners Gospel Storybook Bible is a chronological, Christ-centered Bible study that takes kids through Genesis to Revelation. We use this curriculum to teach your preschooler Bible stories in a clear and meaningful way by using activities that appeal to the preschool age. They will learn memory verses and basic Biblical Truths about who God is. Games and crafts may also used to emphasize the theme and focus of each lesson.
Snack
Please inform the check-in team of any allergies during the check-in process. Allergy alerts will be entered into our check-in system and displayed on your child's nametag. A light snack will be provided for your preschooler. The snack consists of goldfish, animal crackers or Cheerios.
Pick-up Procedure
When the time comes to pick up your child, please return to the entrance of the preschool hallway and present your security tag to the volunteer standing at the hallway door. The tag will be matched with your preschooler before he/she is released into your care. A child will not be able to leave the room, with a parent, without presentation of the security tag. In the event you lose your security tag, you will be asked to show proper identification before your child may leave with you. We ask that if an older sibling is going to pick up your preschooler that he/she be at least 16 years old.

Parent/Child Dedication Service
Every year Central Baptist Church observes Parent/Child Dedication. This is a special time when parents celebrate the life of their child and dedicate themselves to following the Lord's leadership and God's Word in the development of their child. It is also a time for the entire church body as we are committing to helping you in leading your child toward Christ all the days of his/her life.
