Response to Infractions Involving Physical Aggression

(including, but not limited to, A24, A34, A35, A43 and A44)

We aspire to maintain a safe, welcoming, and affirming environment for all leaders. In pursuit of this goal, we are adjusting the way we respond to conflicts between leaders. In addition to engaging leaders in restorative conversations, conferences, and mediations, we will also be engaging parents and guardians more directly in resolving certain infractions; specifically, Level 4 infractions and any infraction involving physically aggressive behavior. If your leader commits a Level 4 infraction or a physically aggressive act, the following protocol will be followed.

Again, our intention is to maintain a safe, wholesome environment for our leaders and your involvement is crucial. Take time today, to reinforce your expectations to your leader around their conduct at school and in the community. Remind your leader of who they are, who they are not, and who they aspire to be in the future. As a school community, we endeavor to cultivate the unique genius of each leader and for this to happen, we must all ensure our school community remains a safe and affirming space for all.

Don’t forget:

At Bronx Alliance, leaders are permitted to bring cell phones inside the building. However, phones should be turned off or on silent mode and should neither be seen nor heard. If a leader does not meet this expectation, their cell phone will be confiscated. Confiscated cell phones must be retrieved by a parent, guardian, or adult listed on the emergency contact card. The parent/guardian of a leader that refuses to surrender their phone will be required to attend a mandatory parent conference the following day.

We are committed to being a safe, welcoming, and affirming learning community. We appreciate your support in these matters.
