NEWSLETTER 15 8th May 2019
Welcome back after the lovely long weekend! We’ve had a great start to this busy term and I can’t believe that this week already marks the halfway point through this term! The next few weeks promise to be very busy with year 4 heading to Youlbury this week, SATs for years 2 and 6 and finally Yenworthy for year 6 in the last week of term. We would all like to wish years 2 and 6 the very best of luck but hope you support us in reassuring them that whilst we want them to do their very best, they are not a measure of the whole child and their many wonderful talents. Good luck to all - you are fab!
We are delighted that it looks like the school pool is all set to open in term 6. Thank you so much to the amazing team of volunteers who have been working so hard to clean and prep the pool ready for the season. This includes ……… window company who have come in to clean the whole dome! Thank you again - you are also fab!
Last but not least, CONGRATULATIONS to Reception Class for their excellent Sponsored Walk effort last week! They were all fantastic on the whole route and have raised well over £900 towards their outdoor area - WELL DONE!
We seem to have acquired quite a lot of lost property! We aim to return all named items to the child but we still have lots of unclaimed items. Please do have a look in lost property (in the bike shed) if you know your child is missing something and make sure all items are named. Thank you.
Walk to School Week
The week beginning Monday 20th May is Walk to School Week and we would like to encourage as many children as possible to walk, scoot or ride to school. We know many families live outside of walking distance and/or parents have to get to work afterwards but we would love to see people walking even just a little further than normal through the village that week.
We hope all children are enjoying setting and completing their Readathon challenges! The children were really keen to support the work carried out by the charity to provide books for children in school. If you have any questions, please see Miss Mundy.
We’ve got the perfect opportunity to spend the day in your favourite comfy pyjamas whilst raising money for a good cause this June. On Friday 21st June, we would like all children to wear their best pyjamas for the day, whilst raising money for Helen and Douglas House who support local families with terminally ill children. Hagbourne Preschool are working hard to raise money to support Helen and Douglas House this term so all contributions collected on this day will go towards their fundraising.
From September, we will be doing some work with the NSPCC on e-safety and anti-bullying. Mrs Dendy and I have met with them to begin planning what we will do but in doing so we discovered some great resources that you could already begin to access at home. This includes taking any tablet or device into any O2 store (regardless of your own network) where a ‘Safeguarding Guru’ will be able to help you with setting up all the parental controls you need. Please check out their website for more information.
Save the Date
On Tuesday 11th June there will be a parent workshop from 6 - 7:30pm looking at ways to support your children with wellbeing. More information will follow shortly but please save the date as we would love to see as many of you there as possible.

Previous Reminders (a space for prior notices for easy access!)
If there have been any changes or updates to your child’s medical needs, including medications and allergies, please ensure that you inform the school and fill out the relevant forms. If your child has an inhaler or epipen in school please check the medication is in date!
Please also remember we are a nut and sesame seed free school, can we ask that you do not send your children in with any nut product - this includes Nutella and Peanut butter.
Remember all children have a log in to RM Unify (which can be found in their reading record or homework diary). Please use these websites to support your child’s learning at home. RM Unify can be accessed via the Pupil Area on the school website or via the following link https://hagbourneschool.rmunify.com/. Children in Key Stage 2 now also have access to Times Tables Rockstars to support them with learning their times tables.
Please could we ask that only Blue Badge holders park in the disabled spaces in the village hall. Please also take care not to block these spaces in. We do have families in our own school who need to use these spaces and they may also be needed by Blue Badge holders from the wider community. If this continues to be an issue, we will ask the local PCSOs to monitor the situation.
Please see here for next terms menu, remember to log onto Live Kitchen and select school lunches.
