Hello Vinewood Mustangs!  It’s been a great first month back at school!

Thank you to all who organized, worked at and supported Vinewood’s Book Fair.  It was a big success!

Our next exciting event is almost here! “Mustang Night Out-Havana Nights” is on Saturday, September 15 at the Woodbridge Country Club.  Tickets are available in the office or you can return the order form and money to your child’s teacher. It will be a fun adult night out that you won’t want to miss! There will be dinner, dancing, and AMAZING live and silent auctions.  We will need a final head count by the beginning of September so please purchase your tickets now! It is our biggest and most important fundraiser of the year, so please come and support our school!

Our next Parent Club meeting is on Tuesday, September 11th at 6:00 p.m. in the cafeteria.   We had an amazing turnout at our first meeting and we are excited to see you all at the next one!

Get ready-our Fall Cookie Dough/Gift Wrap Fundraiser that will kick off right after Fall Break! So be on the lookout for more info. on that.

                                Have a Super September,

                                Cristina McCosker

Dear Vinewood Families,

We hope you and your family are well and enjoying the school year. Our school year is moving along. It was great to see some of you at our Back to School Night event.  All parents want the best education for their children, and that starts with our teachers and you. Working in a partnership with Vinewood will make a huge difference. A parent is a child’s first teacher. Parents can support our schools in many ways. Parents show kids how to say please and thank you, to be kind and curious, and spend time reinforcing concepts learned at school. I tell you, nobody will appreciate your time more than your child.

We are fortunate to have an exemplary Parent Club board that is supportive of our community.  Our President is Mrs. McCosker.  She is super supportive of Vinewood and looking forward to another great year.  Other board members are:   President – Cristina McCosker,   Vice President – Kelli Cantrell, Treasurers-Janelle Heinrich and Leticia Bush and Elizabeth Wright as Secretary.  If you have something to share, please email them at vinewoodparentsclub@yahoo.com

We have an important week beginning September 25- 28th.  We highly recommend parents attend our Teacher/Parent conferences. Students do better when parents are involved in their academic, social and behavioral lives. Attending Parent-Teacher conferences is a way to be involved and help your child succeed.

Vinewood School had an increase in the Smarter Balance Assessment Consortium or SBAC test. Vinewood improved by 11 points over the last three years.  Vinewood scored 61% proficient in English Language Arts and 58% proficient in math. Our teachers have made improvements every year in math. That is a commendable accomplishment given the school’s diverse population.  Our teachers’ with support of our staff, tutors, central office, and parents have contributed to the rise. Looking at student work helps improve teaching.  Hard work and dedication on the part of the teachers, students, and parents motivates students to reach higher and to achieve success.

The Board of Education, Superintendent and the schools sites have established a set of Focus Areas for the 2018-2019 school year. I would like to share it.

Your positive comments, concerns and support for all of our students are considerate. You make a huge difference in the lives of our students. Thank you!

Sincerely,

Mr. Tanaka, Principal
