MARTIN COUNTY PORK AMBASSADOR SCHOLARSHIP
Purpose:
The Martin County Pork Producers will award up to three scholarships; first ($1750), second ($1250) and third place ($1000). They also reserve the right to award additional scholarship money in $100 increments based on performing extra duties as an ambassador and subject to MCPP Board approval. The scholarship(s) has been developed to give financial assistance for the student(s) to further their education at a technical institute or college of their choice.
Eligibility:
1. Submit completed application, must be postmarked by January 23, 2026.
2. Be a Martin County resident or raise pigs in Martin County.
3. Applicant and/or parents are actively engaged in the pork industry or the applicant is planning on going into an agriculture-related field.
4. Applicants must be a senior in high school or enrolled in a 4-yr. college or technical or junior college and have not reached the age of 22 prior to January 1 st of 2026.
5. Intend to use the scholarship money for tuition or books.
Selection:
1. The scholarship committee will consist of members or associate members of the Pork Producers from outside the county.
2. Final selection will be made by the scholarship committee.
3. An interview will be requested by the scholarship committee.
4. Selection is made by the judges' evaluation of the application, essay and interview.
5. The tentative date of the interviews is the first or second Wednesday of February. Scholarship applicants will be informed by letter and the recipient's name will be published in the local newspaper.
Requirements:
1. Completely fill out the application form, postmarked by January 23, 2026.
2. Write a 600-word essay, typewritten and double-spaced. The essay should be about a pork issue listed on the application.
3. An official transcript of grades shall accompany the application.

5. The scholarship winner will be required to attend the Martin County Pork Producer banquet (March) to read his/her winning essay, represent in local parades (3 of 5), attend young leaders in ag conference (June), represent at the Pork Masters golf outing (July 27) , and assist with grilling at the Martin county fair (Aug 17-23).
6. The scholarship winner should be willing to represent Martin County Pork Producers as their ambassador at events throughout the year allowing for additional money to be added to their scholarship. Examples would be: performing radio interviews, assisting with grilling events in local communities, instruct Ag in the Schools, etc.
7. Martin County Pork Producers reserves the right to withhold a portion of the monies if the student does not perform all the required actions.

To develop leadership in our youth by involving, assisting, and encouraging young men and women to stay or become more involved in the PORK INDUSTRY.
