NEWSLETTER 16 20th May 2019
Can you believe it is the last week of term 5? We are so proud of our Year 4s who were fantastic on their residential trip to Youlbury - they showed great teamwork, independence and resilience during their time away. Year 6 were AMAZING during their SATs last week. We were so proud of how well they all coped - they showed real maturity in their approach by really working hard to do their best whilst not letting the pressure of the tests get the better of them - they really took it all in their stride! We KNOW they are fab no matter what happens. We wish them lots of fun this week as they head off to Yenworthy for their residential trip where they will be coasteering, surfing, rock climbing and much more besides.
We’ve also had trips to the Ashmolean for year 5 (and a Greek Olympics), the Earth Trust for Year 3, Warwick Castle for year 1 and stream dipping planned for year 4 this week! What a fab term! Reception have also LOVED playing on their new play equipment and are looking forward to their celebration party!
May we wish you all a lovely half term and a relaxing Bank Holiday. We look forward to seeing you back in school for the start of term 6 on Monday 3rd June.
Walk to School Week
This week is ‘Walk to School Week’ and we would like to encourage as many children as possible to walk, scoot or ride to school. We know many families live outside of walking distance and/or parents have to get to work afterwards but we would love to see people walking even just a little further than normal through the village that week.
We’ve got the perfect opportunity to spend the day in your favourite comfy pyjamas whilst raising money for a good cause this June. On Friday 21st June, we would like all children to wear their best pyjamas for the day, whilst raising money for Helen and Douglas House who support local families with terminally ill children. Hagbourne Preschool are working hard to raise money to support Helen and Douglas House this term so all contributions collected on this day will go towards their fundraising.
Save the Date
On Tuesday 11th June there will be a parent workshop from 6 - 7:30pm looking at ways to support your children with wellbeing. More information will follow shortly but please save the date as we would love to see as many of you there as possible.
Please can we ask parents to let us know if your child was injured or particularly unwell over the weekend. If we are aware of any injuries we can be best prepared to follow up as needed.

Previous Reminders (a space for prior notices for easy access!)
If there have been any changes or updates to your child’s medical needs, including medications and allergies, please ensure that you inform the school and fill out the relevant forms. If your child has an inhaler or epipen in school please check the medication is in date!
Please also remember we are a nut and sesame seed free school, can we ask that you do not send your children in with any nut product - this includes Nutella and Peanut butter.
Remember all children have a log in to RM Unify (which can be found in their reading record or homework diary). Please use these websites to support your child’s learning at home. RM Unify can be accessed via the Pupil Area on the school website or via the following link https://hagbourneschool.rmunify.com/. Children in Key Stage 2 now also have access to Times Tables Rockstars to support them with learning their times tables.
Please could we ask that only Blue Badge holders park in the disabled spaces in the village hall. Please also take care not to block these spaces in. We do have families in our own school who need to use these spaces and they may also be needed by Blue Badge holders from the wider community. If this continues to be an issue, we will ask the local PCSOs to monitor the situation.
Please see here for next terms menu, remember to log onto Live Kitchen and select school lunches.

St. Andrews Church
Saturday 25th May – Start of Scarecrow Trail
On the 4th Sunday of every month we have a more informal Sunday morning service to which families are particularly welcome, and this month it is a bit different because we also do 'Cafe Church' several times a year which starts with bacon butties.
On Sunday Cafe Church will be in St Andrew's at 10.30am. The theme will be about farming and looking after the environment. This Sunday is known traditionally as 'Rogation Sunday'. Come and find out what it's all about. There will be music, discussion, refreshments including delicious bacon butties, served from 10.15am. For all ages.
