January 11, 2024

Dear Students and Parents,

As you know, we are already beginning to plan for the 2024 – 2025 scheduling process! Many of you may be starting to discuss course selection for next year with your child. It is important to know that several of our Advanced Placement (AP) courses have applications that are required to qualify for open access into these programs. Additionally, several Honors courses or other electives have applications to indicate readiness and provide students and parents with important recommendation information to consider when making course selections. Please review this condensed list of these courses that require an application. Please note that not all AP and Honors courses require an application. Only the courses listed in this packet require these prerequisite applications. These applications are used as part of the recommendation process to provide students and families with helpful insight and recommendations about these advanced level courses. Therefore, they are due earlier so that teachers can review and make recommendations to help in your course selection process.

All applications are due January 29, 2024 by 8:00 a.m. Any student who does not submit an application for a course by this deadline will be placed on a waitlist and they will not be able to select this course during their scheduling meeting. Completion of an application and/or placement on a waitlist does not guarantee enrollment in the course. Please review the scheduling timeline below to ensure that you are meeting all necessary deadlines.

Applications for these courses take place before students make course selections so that recommendations can be made in advance of scheduling meetings with school counselors. Should your child be interested in any of these courses that require an application, or have any interest in exploring any of these courses, we highly recommend they complete the application to leave their options open during their scheduling meeting. If you have any questions about a course requiring a qualifying assessment or application, please reach out to your school counselor prior to these deadlines.
