Schedule Overview

The PK-2 students will follow an AM/PM learning schedule. Scholars onsite in the morning session will learn (asynchronously and synchronously) at home in the afternoon. Scholars onsite in the afternoon will learn (asynchronously and synchronously) at home each morning.
Cohort Groupings:
Drop Off
- Doors open to students @ 7:45am & 12:00
- Busses arrive 10 minutes before bell
- Students should not arrive at school earlier than 10 minutes before the bell.
- There will not be recess prior to the beginning of school.
- The parents of students who arrive earlier than 10 minutes before the bell will receive a phone call from office staff.
- The office will print the student health screen from Qualtrics at 7:30 & 11:45 to provide a copy to each person assigned to student check in.
- Assigned Classified staff will pick up a copy at 7:30 & 11:50 in the main office
- An iPad or computer will also be used at all health check areas to check for attestations
- Parents will be expected to complete the online health screener and complete the “fast pass” each school day
Parent Vehicle Drop Off
- Parents/guardians will use the parent pick up lane to drop off/pick up students.
- Parents will remain in vehicle at all times
- Students will remain in the vehicle until curbside and assisted by a staff member to complete the health check.
- Staff will open car door (the student continues to stay in the vehicle)
- Staff will check student temperature (temp below 100.4° F)
- If temperature is elevated, students are not allowed to exit the vehicle.
- The parent may take the student home OR re-enter the parent drop off line for another temperature check.
- Staff will check for a “fast pass” from each student - prior to student exiting the vehicle
- If a student does not have “fast pass” staff will check daily health screen print out or iPad/computer.
- If the daily health screen has not been completed, staff will provide a “fast pass” to the parent and ask them to re-enter the parent drop off line once they have completed the online health check & “fast pass.”
- If a student has passed a temperature check and has a fast pass and daily health screen.
- Student will exit vehicle
- Staff will mark the fast pass as cleared & give the fast pass back to the student to turn in right before getting their lunch on their way to their classroom.
- The marked fast pass will allow all staff know he/she has been cleared
- Student will go into the school via their designated entrance (on the left side of the line) and line up grade and class in their designated area:
- Kinder: East end of Main Hallway (using front of school MPR doors)
- Grade 1: Multi-Purpose Room (using front of school MPR doors)
- Grade 2: Large Gym (using front of school gym door).
Bus Drop Off
- Busses will drop students off at the normal bus drop off location, 10 minutes before the start of the day at 7:35. We will only have bus students for the AM cohort each day.
- Students will exit the bus and line up along the bus ramp sidewalk towards the West student entrance
- Student temperature will be checked (temp below 100.4° F) by the staff assigned to the West student entry doors.
- Students who do not pass the health check will be sent to the recheck area in the main hallway, just West of the main office hallway (in front of the library).
- If a student shows an elevated temperature of 100.4° F or above, they will head to the recheck area in the main hallway, just West of the main office hallway (in front of the library)
- If there is still an elevated temperature then the child will be sent to the isolation area in the main office (in the hallway behind the nurse room).
- Parents will be called.
- Follow “exposure protocol”
- Temperature clear, mark the“fast pass” & give back to the student.
- Staff will mark the fast pass as cleared & give the fast pass back to the student to turn in right before getting their lunch on their way to their classroom.
- The marked fast pass will allow all staff know he/she has been cleared
- If student does not have a “fast pass”:
- Check daily health screener printout or iPad/computer. If completed, the student is cleared.
- If neither the “Fast pass” and online daily health screening has been completed:
- Child will be sent to the recheck area in the main hallway, just West of the main office hallway (in front of the library).
- Office staff will later call parent to remind them to complete daily health screening and fast pass
- If daily health screen has not been completed, but fast past is complete
- Student can proceed to their designated waiting area in the school
- Kinder: East end of Main Hallway (using the main hallway doors)
- Grade 1: Multi-Purpose Room (using the main hallway doors)
- Grade 2: Large Gym (using the main hallway gym door).
- The Office will later call parents to remind them the health screen must be complete.
- Temperature clear and “fast pass” and “health screen” is complete.
- Staff will mark the fast pass as cleared & give the fast pass back to the student to turn in right before getting their lunch on their way to the room.
- The marked fast pass will allow all staff know he/she has been cleared
- Student will then walk down the main hallway and line up by grade level and class in their designated area:
- Kinder: East end of Main Hallway (using the main hallway doors)
- Grade 1: Multi-Purpose Room (using the main hallway doors)
- Grade 2: Large Gym (using the main hallway gym door).
Walking Students
- Walking students will go immediately to their designated entrance to line up for the health & “fast pass” check (using the right side of line).
- Kinder: MPR entrance (front of school MPR doors)
- Grade 1: MPR lentrance (front of school MPR doors)
- Grade 2: Large Gym (front of school gym doors).
- Student temperature will be checked (temp below 100.4° F) by the staff assigned to each Grade level entrance and waiting area
- Students who do not pass the health check will be sent to the recheck area in the main hallway, just West of the main office hallway (in front of the library).
- If a student shows an elevated temperature of 100.4° F or above, they will head to the recheck area in the main hallway, just West of the main office hallway (in front of the library).
- If there is still an elevated temperature then the child will be sent to the isolation room (in the hallway behind the regular nurse room in the main office).
- Parents will be called.

- Student will walk into school and to their designated wait area and line up by grade level and class:

- Grade 2: Large Gym
Inclement Weather Drop Off
In the case of inclement weather or early release - ALL WSD students will learn ONLINE with their teacher(s)/class(es), for example:
- School closure due to snow/weather conditions
- 2 Hour Weather Delay
- Early Release (example: day before Thanksgiving)
Students to Classroom
- Teacher will arrive at their designated grade level/class wait area 5 minutes before each half day start time
- Teachers will pick up their class and walk them through the designated path to their classroom.
- Kinder: Walk from main hallway to classroom
- Students will pick up their breakfast/lunch bag in the main hallway to their way to their classroom
- Grade 1: Out the EAST/large gym side MPR doors (following behind the kinder student lines)
- Students will pick up their breakfast/lunch bag at the EAST/large gym side of the MPR main hallway doors
- Grade 2: Out the Big Gym main hallway doors
- Students will pick up their breakfast/lunch bag in the main hallway near the entry to the Gr 2 / 3 wing
- Teacher should arrive at classroom close to 7:45 or Noon
Student arrival in classroom:
- Students will put ALL their personal belongings on the floor by their assigned desk
- Students will wash hands
- Student will eat breakfast / lunch
Tardy Students
- Principal will assign one staff member to remain at the main entrance doors for 15 minutes to catch any late arrivals.
- Outside doors will be unlocked at 7:45
- Inside, vestibule doors will remain locked all day
- Students will “buzz” the office from the vestibule
- Staff will go to vestibule door to check student in
- Staff will follow the same procedures for clearance as described above
Tardy Students - Vehicle Drop Off
- If a staff member is still present at the front of the school, they will go to the car of the tardy student and proceed with the check in process (same process as before school).
- If a staff member is no longer present, the parent will park the car in a parking space and come to the vestibule with their child incase they have a temperature and need to go home
Breakfast/Lunch:
Breakfast/lunch will be in the classroom
- Eating time is built into the schedule ahead of morning check in & SEL instruction.
- Students will eat at their desk
- Students will remove breakfast items from bag
- Teacher will assist with opening milk and packages while masks are still on
- Once all items are open teacher will allow students to remove their masks
- Breakfast/lunch eating should be no longer than 15 minutes (this is the approved amount of time allowed without mask)
- Students must remain in their seats while they eat (unmasked)
- If a student needs assistance after the meal has begun, the teacher and student will put their mask back on so the teacher can assist.
- Staff will wear a mask and face shield while students are eating with their masks off - unless an emergency, please maintain 6ft distancing while students are eating.
- Students will put their masks back on
- Students will throw trash away
- Students will wash their hands
- Students will put the remainder of their food items in the backpack
- PM students will eat their breakfast at home prior to arriving at school. AM students will eat their lunch at home.
Movement inside the Building:
- Masks will be worn at all times when moving inside the building
- Social distancing will be maintained while moving inside the building
- Directional hallway protocols will be followed
- Minimize movement within the building if possible
- Principals and teams will develop a shared bathroom protocol.
- Protocol to include that only 1 male and 1 female student is allowed out of the classroom to go to the bathroom at a time. This will prevent large numbers of students in the bathroom area at the same time.
- Teach you students to wait in line if someone is already in the bathroom. If there are more than a few students in line, they should return to class and try a little later.
Attendance:
- Attendance will be taken in Skyward, daily.
- Attendance will be taken for both cohorts of students at the end of each day between 2:30-3:00.
- The online Skyward list will NOT be separated for your AM & PM cohorts of students. As a result, you will need to track those students who attended each cohort and mark the attendance of ALL OF YOUR STUDENTS AT ONE TIME at the end of the day (again, between 2:30-3:00).
Recess:
Students will have 1 recess while at school
- 1 classified staff member will be assigned to each cohort while at recess
- Assigned para staff will pick up students from the classroom to go outside to the playground USING THE MAIN HALLWAY TO GET TO RECESS.
- Students will remain in their cohort group with their assigned staff while at recess
- Each class will have a designated area on the playground, rotating between areas each day to provide a differentiated experience throughout the week.
- Multiple cohorts may be outside at the same time
- Each cohort will have designated play equipment that will be stored in the classroom and brought out by teacher/student for recess.
- Students will adhere to 6-foot social distancing while at recess
- Masks can be removed while at recess - both staff and students (but must be kept on the student/staff if needed)
- While a mask is not required at recess, I would NOT tell students to take them off. This is their choice.
- Staff will need to put their mask on when assisting students or when not able to keep 6 ft social distancing.
- Have students put their mask back on when lining up to go back into the building.
- The assigned para will walk students back to their class using THE SOUTHSIDE OUTSIDE WALKWAYS AND POD ENTRY POINTS IN THE COURTYARDS.
- Paras will head back to class before the 15 minutes is up (probably after 10 minutes or so) in order to be back at the classroom to allow enough time to pick up their next class of students on time.
- Students will immediatley line up in class to wash their hands when back in the classroom
Classroom Safety/Cleaning:
- Upon entry into your class: Open all doors and windows (weather permitting)
- Student desks will be socially distanced 6 feet apart - shoulder to shoulder.
- Students refusing to maintain 6-foot social distancing will be sent home.
- Seating chart- same assigned desk every day
- All students and teachers must wear a mask at all times.
- The only exception to this is during outdoor time or while eating.
- All personal items must be kept at the student’s desk (backpack, lunch, jacket, etc.)
- All personal items i.e. coats, lunch containers etc. will need to be taken home each day to allow for proper cleaning of the classroom.
- Teachers will attempt to provide small packages of manipulatives for students to eliminate sharing.
- If not enough manipulatives exist, then alternate materials may need to be considered.
- End of day for AM cohort- Desks get washed (right before dismissal)
- Teachers will spray used student desks with soapy water
- Students will wipe off desks with paper towels
- Teachers will spray desks/chairs with Virex (takes 15 minutes to dry) after students are dismissed/out of the classroom.
Middle of the day cleaning
Custodian
- Student bathrooms
- Common areas (Staff break room, copy room, vestibule, main entry points)
Teachers
- Teachers will spray Virex on student desks, counters, sinks and door handles after students are dismissed/out of classroom.
Classified Staff
- Classified staff will help with sanitizing around the building at an assigned location
Student Pick Up
- Students will be released by grade level in 3 minute increments at the end of the day:
- AM: K @ 10:07, 1st @ 10:10, 2nd @ 10:13),
- PM: K @ 2:22, 1st @ 2:25, 2nd @ 2:28)
- Gr 2 students can use the right side of the main hallway to exit out the West student entry (if needed)
- For students riding the bus
- Teachers will walk all their students down the main hallway to the bus ramp area - out the West student door.
- Bus students will line up in their assigned bus line (along the bus ramp fence/walkway)
- Assigned Classified staff will monitor students in the bus lines
- Students will have their ID card accessible for bus entry
- For students who walk home
- Teacher will walk all their students to bus drop off area* and then to the parent drop off area**
- *If walking home from the back (West) side of the school, walking students will leave using the bus ramp and sidewalks to leave the school campus
- **If walking home from the front (Northeast) side of the school, walking students will leave using the sidewalks around the parking lot at the front of the school
- Walking students will leave campus immediately
- No playing on playground or waiting around pick up area
- For our youngest students, teachers may want to establish a pick up location for parents that they will walk to pick up their students that is not immediately on the sidewalks in the front of the school. It can be on the far side of the parking lot or or Methow St.
- Parents will not be allowed to park their vehicle and walk up to the school to pick up their students. They should make a plan with their kids for how & where they will be picked up from school each day before coming to school.
- For students who are picked up by vehicle - Parents will remain in the car
- Teachers will walk all remaining students to the parent drop off area at the front of the school.
- Vehicle students line up to wait, staying in their grade/class line
- Parents will pick students up at the parent drop off/pick up location.
- Assigned Classified staff will escort student to parent car
When a student reports they don’t feel well:
When calling the office for health assessment support, DO NOT SAY “COME GET THIS STUDENT, I THINK HE/SHE HAS COVID.” This is not only an alarming statement for students to hear, but one that educators are not professionally licensed to determine.
- Ask the student the following questions ( also found on the “student doesn’t feel well poster”
- Symptom check- Not related to other health concern
- Fever, chills, body aches, flushed face, glassy eyes,taking fever reducing medications
- Unusual fatigue
- New uncontrolled cough, difficulty breathing (unrelated to allergies or asthma)
- Sore throat
- Headache- head pain of unusual severity
- Abdominal pain, nausea, or diarrhea
- Congestion or runny nose
- Poor appetite in combination with other symptoms
- If you believe the student is unwell and it may be COVID related call the office
- The designated health staff member will come to class, escort the student to the office and proceed with the health protocol.
- Student will be escorted to auxiliary health room
- See below for Auxiliary Health room protocol
- If student has non COVID symptoms

Health Room
- Current Health Rooms used for non-COVID19 ailments and maladies.
- Cuts, scrapes, sprains, etc.
- Ice Packs, Chapped Lips, etc.
- Medication administration
Auxiliary Health Room - Quarantining students ONLY
- The auxiliary health room is for students only.
- If a student is quarantined in the auxiliary health room, they will go home.
- A Hepa Air Filter device has been provided to each site for use in the auxiliary health room during and after a student has entered the space.
The designated health attendant will determine if a student needs to be in the auxiliary health room.
- Health attendant will put on their assigned high exposure mask (KN95), face shield, and medical gown.
- Students will enter the room with a mask on.
- Health attendant will asses student and document answers (attach form)
- Check temperature
- Ask health screen questions
- Office staff will call parent to come get the student
- Student will remain in the Auxiliary health room until their parent arrives.
- Health attendant is not required to remain in the room, but must be close enough to hear the student and periodically check on him/her.
- Discard medical gown after each use
- Must wash hands after each time leaving the room
- Must always wear high exposure PPE while in the presence of a possible COVID case.
- After a student leaves the auxiliary health room, the custodian will be called to clean and sanitize the room.
Staffing COVID Protocol
Teacher tests positive
- Teacher does not come to work
- Teacher will notify HR and building administrator
- Teacher will enter an absence in Aesop and request a substitute
- Teacher will be placed on FFCRA leave for up to 2 weeks. (one time benefit and expires 12/30/20) FFCRA does not come out of sick leave.
- After FFCRA is exhausted, time off will come out of sick leave.
- With information from the teacher and in conjunction with building administrator- HR will contact trace
- Any possible close contacts will be identified and contacted
- After a positive test- teacher is home for at least 10 days following the test and 24 hrs after symptoms reside.
Teacher has close contact with covid positive person
- Teacher does not come to work
- Teacher will notify HR and building administrator
- Teacher will enter an absence in Aesop and request a substitute
- Teacher will be placed on FFCRA leave for up to 2 weeks. (one time benefit and expires 12/30/20) FFCRA does not come out of sick leave.
- After FFCRA is exhausted, time off will come out of sick leave.
- Teacher will get COVID test
- With information from the teacher and in conjunction with building administrator- HR will contact trace incase teacher is positive
- After a positive test- teacher is home for at least 10 days following the test and 24 hrs after symptoms reside.
- HR will notify anyone who was considered in close contact.
- If negative test- Teacher will stay home for 10 days.
Staff Masks/PPE
Masks are required for all staff at all times except when alone in their own classroom/office. For more information then what is provided please click here (hyperlink employer health and safety requirements)
- All staff provided cloth masks
- Staff (classroom teachers, classroom paras, office staff) provided with a cloth mask and a face shield
- Staff designated as high risk provided cloth mask, KN95, disposable gown, gloves, faceshield
Staff Low Transmission Risk- 6 feet distancing is easily maintained, only broken intermittently in passing up to several times a day
- General group instructional setting; a classroom setting
- Office
- Food service as long as 6 feet distance is easily maintained.
Mask requirement:
- Cloth face covering, which fully covers the mouth and nose OR
- A face shield with a cloth extension (drape) for those who are unable to wear a cloth mask. (requires approval from the health department)
Staff Medium Transmission Risk-6 feet distance mostly maintained;, but with job tasks that require sustained several minutes of broken social distancing.
- Small group instructional setting
- Working with students with disabilities
- Working with students one to one support
- Speech language, behavioral support
- Transportation (driver and staff)
- Food service
- PE indoor
Mask requirement:
- Cloth face covering with a Face shield OR
- non-cloth disposables, dust mask, KN95 or
- Other filtering facepiece respiratory, or non-FDA approved procedural masks.
When in a medium risk situation and working in close proximity with someone who may not be able to consistently wear at least a cloth face covering:
Added PPE Requirement:
- Wear a disposable gown that is discarded after each close interaction
- Frequently wash hands
Staff High Transmission Risk- Without 6 feet of distance, sustained close contact (less than 3 feet apart) for more than 10 minutes in an hour multiple times a day.
- Small group instructional setting
- If near health/isolation room
Mask requirement:
- Half or full-face respirator with filter, OR
- Industrial use N95 or P95 or non-NIOSH approved filtering facepiece respirator OR
- Face shield plus and FDA-approved KN95 mask, surgical mask, dust mask or procedural mask (if a respirator cannot be reasonably obtained. Note: It would not be sufficient to wear a cloth mask and shield.
Added PPE Requirement:
- Wear a disposable gown that is discarded after each close interaction
- Frequently wash hands
Staff Extremely High Transmission Risk- Face to face close proximity or potential for droplets of biological martial or fluid to become airborne within the breathing zone.
- Health/Isolation Room- tonometry during eye exam, visual examination of the oral and nasal cavity, visual exam of eyes, swab sampling of mouth or nose.
Mask requirement:
- FDA-approved surgical mask or N95 filtering respirator OR
- Face shield plus a KN95 mask, surgical mask, dust mask, or procedural mask (if a respirator cannot be reasonably obtained.
Added PPE Requirement:
- Wear a disposable gown that is discarded after each close interaction
- Face Shield if wearing a surgical mask
- Eye goggles if wearing half face disposable respirator or non permeable disposable upper body covering
- Frequently wash hands
Student Masks
- Students must wear a mask at all time, except
- While at recess
- While eating breakfast/lunch
- If a student refuses to wear a mask, the student will go home.
Student Chromebooks/iPads
- Educators will have the flexibility of asking students to bring their devices to school.
- If Yes: Devices and chargers will be transported back and forth in their backpack and will stay in their backpack at their seat until the teacher asks them to use it.
- No sharing of technology devices between students, and no touching devices if you are the teacher, have the student navigate with their hands as you help.
- If they are not charged, there will not be a charging cart in the room in all cases and one will not be provided if there is not a matching one to the device.
Visitors & Volunteers
- No visitors or volunteers will be allowed beyond the office area and into classrooms until Chelan County is in Phase 3 of Washington’s reopening phase plan.
