How to Share Files Safely

General Guidelines

  1. Do not share Personally Identifiable Information such as Full Name, Location, Email, etc.

  1. Do NOT plagiarize!! Plagiarism is using information that was not your own product and claiming it as your own. This is stealing from others and includes copying from other students and tutors and AI-generated work. If you are quoting, cite your sources! There are severe consequences for plagiarism.

  1. Do not share your essay document publicly for everyone to see. This makes you vulnerable to plagiarism! We know it’s easy to upload links via public discussion posts but anyone can see them.

Google Docs Link Style

This method is the ONLY method to share a document if you are trying to share through the Help Channel, Discussion Channel, or Schoolhouse DMs.

  1. Copy paste your essay into Google Docs.
  2. Remove all personally identifying information such as Full Name, Location, Email, etc.
  3. Click the share button.
  4. Change General Access settings from Restricted to Anyone With Link.
  5. Choose a Role for the person you will be sharing this with. It may be easier for the reviewer to provide advice if you choose Commenter. If you have multiple people looking at your essay at once, it may be better to choose Viewer.
  6. Click Copy Link and send the URL to your reviewers! 🥳🥳
