Student iPad - Auto Correction Spelling Settings

Issue:

When students are taking word spelling tests in Canvas on their IPad, they are being prompted with correct spelling and are able to select that. How is this feature disabled?

Resolution:

We have found the settings on the IPad that control this. On the student IPad go to

Settings->General->Keyboard

The settings you will want to disable in the Keyboard settings are:

‘Auto-Capitalization’

‘Auto-Correction’

‘Check Spelling’

‘Perdictive’

Optionally, these settings can also be disabled to prevent other keyboard issues

‘Smart Punctuation’

‘Split Keyboard’

If there is interest per Grade level these setting can be disabled and can be controlled by policy but once disabled by policy this cannot be re-enabled by Student or Teacher manually. In talking with some teachers, they like to have the classroom control of these spelling settings for certain projects/activities.
